View Full Version : What ideas would you like to see implemented into a virtual pet site?
I know a lot of our users have many ideas that they'd like to see implemented into a virtual pet site, so let's help each other out and share our ideas all in one thing... We can make a big list and hopefully pet site owners see this thread and they use the idea -- so the user that suggests the idea can finally see their idea implemented into a virtual pet game.
The only idea I have is I wish more virtual pet sites adapted a more real-life approach such as if a user is banned (not in a bad way) another user can bail them out of jail with either credits or some type of currency.
Where the whole thing is like a mmog(Massively Multiplay Online Game) where you can walk around training your pets and have person to person battles. It wouldnt even be a web based games anymore though.

Well, how would you that be done? Via flash or?

i agree with first post but when they bail them out of jail they will lose all the money currency and items those would then be auctioned off like on powerpets with a blind silent auction a.k.a. cant see items
in other words that person cant make a new account and bail there old account out for the super rare items

I dont see the sense in making a pet game so realisitc, if you wanted to play "real life" you'd simply get up from your computer and walk out the door, you'd be "playing" real life.

That's not a bad idea though. So, more like a "mob" type feature?

Wouldn't that depend on *why* the account was banned, though? I'm sorry, I don't care if the guy was your best friend, if he scammed someone I don't want him back no matter how much you pay to bail him out. Now, if they *hadn't* actually done anything wrong, I can see you wanting to have some way to bring someone back... but in that case, the staff obviously thought they did something wrong, and they're not going to want them back.
...And wouldn't you rather be able to get your friends back *without* money? I mean, if you had a choice between paying money to unban them or getting them unbanned at no cost to you, well... why on earth would you want to pay for it?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, cpvr, but I really fail to see the logic behind that (or, rather, what I think you said). If you had a friend that was unfairly banned, you'd just contact staff about it (after all, say you get banned from a club in real life. Can't you just talk to the club leader and ask them to reconsider?). And if the staff are a bunch of jerks and won't listen, well, then, at that point I'd be reevaluating whether or not I want to keep playing that game in the first place.
As for what I'd like to see a petsite implement... hm. I already mentioned being able to choose which pet revamp version you'd like to use... I don't know, really. A really good battle system is always a plus, though. Not that I'm any good at battling, but...

I wasn't talking about that - have you ever tried any "mob" games? Some of them have a jail system - where if a user gets caught "stealing" from a store on the game, then they're sent to the jail and another user has to bail them out. Good points though!

Ah, yes, that was my second guess... sorry about that, lol. Perhaps you shouldn't have used the word "banned", though... a touch misleading. I've never really been a fan of the whole stealing/jail thing... I glanced at the Teripets underground (which is woefully under-featured and not a good example, but oh well) and, frankly, it didn't seem like a very interesting idea to me. I suppose if a petsite could really do it properly, though, it might be fun.
Ya, I just fixed that. I've never been near Teripets' underground but I remember talking to King about it last year - and it really doesn't seem like the feature that was actually planned.

Well, this is pretty simple. You can easily do it with flash. The only thing that discourages most people from doing it is the fact you have to run a server for the flash application to connect to. Doing it by just loading page variables over and over again isn't very efficient, I've found out the hard way with a test. You can also do it in java, but I'd recommend flash seeing as flash action script is easier to understand even though you can get java development tools for free.

I wouldn't exactly say "simple", because you would need to know knowledge about how to implement databases with flash, which I doubt many people know.
