So, what are your thought of mara?
Personally, I think mara's doing better than ever.
They have a bunch of new stuff etc.
I'm just waiting "patiently" for Marasites and a bunch of glitches to be fixed lol.
What do you think? :D
EDIT: I also love the emotions. Honestly, I think they are way better than on here, sorry lol.
I believe it's pretty good, except for the forums, which I don't visit because it's annoying.
Someone explain to me when the Marasites were or are?

Lol I guess forums are annoying once in a while.
Roseole, Marasites is a website everybody get when they join mara (atleast 13+). Then they can just use them as websites, using HTML or such. :)
I personally preferred when the layout was full sized. It looked more fun, and professional. It's an amazing layout, it should be put to it's best too. It was probably due to the page loading times though.. =\
The text links up top take away some of my vote too. But personally, I think the sites great, Ian has done a great job. I don't think the ads are as annoying as people make them sound..

Someone explain to me when the Marasites were or are?
They're like your own homepage, you can decorate it and use it for whatever you want. It's basically owning your own website, but different.

i like marapets when it comes to updates and features but the site has way too many ads and is often buggy

What bothers me about mara is... Uhm, not really sure. That it's eating too much of my time, but hey that's not really mara's fault o.o
Sometimes I still get annoyed at some members though -.-
Get the FireFox ad-block ;P

Um.
Art = bad.
I'm sorry, it looks like it has potential...but when I'm looking for the pet that I'd hate the LEAST, and I cannot decide, I know its not for me. I value art and pet designs a lot, and Marapets' art just...isn't that good, frankly. Too many highlights, bland colors, saturated and bright, it makes my eyes scream in horror.
And its almost a bit overloading in the feature department- its pretty intimidating.
Overall, yeah, I never go there and never plan to unless they hire a good artist. And hide SOME of those ads- They made it so annoying how the ads look like their menus to get you to click on them. I don't know what t click or where to freakin' go! Argh.

Have you ever tried using Mozilla Firefox with the ad block feature? That helps. Yea, Marapets is often buggy, but what pet site isn't? Usually the bugs are fixed as soon as they're spotted.

Bugs are NEVER fixed on Marapets, they are only patched.

I love Marapets!! I like all the features of it and to basically be only two major admin (Ian and Limay) I think they do a hell of a job. I know they have "helpers" but the two of them do the most.
The pets are very cute and there are TONS of different costumes to use.
Yes, at times it is glitchy and things don't work right, but it will be fixed as soon as possible.....besides the break can be a good time to go clean the house...LOL

I think he means that sometimes things are "fixed" they soon re-break and stop working...example...marauploads

I find it kind of funny that Ian says he don't give himself time lines though. He have done that before xD
I don't mind that things take longer time, but it's not really true... Like "next week thaaaat is released". A half year later, it's still not there.
But then again, then there's so many other things... So uh oh xD
Oh, that could be what he was talking about then, but doesn't the same also happen on other pet sites? So, basically features are just temp-fixed so to say?

Well let's see here...marapets was going up when I joined in August 05. The site was great until March 06 I believe, when it went down for multiple weeks. It went down for a LONG time with basically no good updates until finally this summer they started adding new features. I believe it will do better now that it is back to adding new content instead of focusing on just getting more members and high google search ranks.
I can respect Marapets and Ian. First of all, some people may think he's rude. But the thing I like about Ian, is that he speaks his mind. He says how he really feels, and doesn't lie.
I can respect Marapets because their not sell-outs. Because they're not becoming pay to play like Neopets. Because their layout is nice. Sure, they don't have to best art, but who cares? Because they're not obesed with money. The owner refuses to let anyone buy his site. I've been on MP for 2 years, they're a millions of newbies there; But in the restricted boards, you can still find someone to talk to. They're not fake. Neopets is. I hope the surpass Neopets.

Ya, I agree with you, but I remember when it went down for a long time. It has gone a week or two without updates, yes. They have high google search ranks now, and I believe their focus right now is gaining new members via word of mouth - more content and such.
They seem be doing a lot better since the "down time". Ian got tons of updates in and things seem to be getting fixed.
I don't know but it will take it crashing for me NOT to be there.....lol...
Have you seen a lot more people on the boards since everything is getting fixed? What's going on in the forums?

Alot of leaver boards, Alot of n00b mails filling my inbox. Ya know, The usual. :p
But yeah, There is alot more members online since the fixes and upgrades.

Well, it's been up and down, but it's more because of what's going on in real life than what's going on there lol.
Also, it's never just PLAIN bad or PLAIN good. Always a mix.

When I got n00b mail I try to answer nicely. If they keep on bugging me I'll ignore them. If they STILL continue, I just blog them.. Then once in a while I unblock everybody xD
The forums are flooded with "rate the person above you", "am I known?" etc boards. I don't post as much as I used to, but I do lurk, lol.
So, all the forums have the same type of threads?

And it's kind of sad how the staff seems to be bugged all the time. They look like they're going to emocry soon xD
I think the soloution COULD be, that some members could get, say, some kind of star beside their name. That could be helpers, so that newbies would click the helpers instead of admins when trying to get help....
Does that even make sense? xD
That does indeed make sense, but what color star? Isn't there a help section as well, where members can go and get the answers to what they need?

And yes there is, and pretty many are helping. But I don't really visit the help forums a lot, but I don't mind answering mails. Mostly xD
So yeah, I think that'd be quicker, if there were quite a bunch of them
So, basically right now the staff are out-numbered by a lot? How many staff members does Marapets currently have?

Pretty much I think.
Besides Ian and Laimay, there are 12 according to Zel's marasite.
Usually there's 1-3 online. Happens there are none for a little while, happens there's like... 8 online or whatever lol.
Oh, but if they're not showing up online - could it be they're just doing something in the house and coming right back? One thing that a lot of people don't know about Marapets is that they have logs and see everything...
So, Ian and Laimay are the only ones that do the content - and the rest moderate the boards and such?

Yeah, they must be online the very.. Maybe not second, but minute. I think it's updated every few minutes, so if you're not active for a little while, you'll be shown as offline.
Yeah, Ian and Laimay are the only ones working at the content... Or well, they do have the flash game programmers, and I think there's another person making the avatars... But else, it's just them.
The admins moderate the boards, helps out if somebody are scammed and let Ian know of the errors and glitches I think.
Oh, I see, it's good to know that...
Have you noticed the increase of players recently too? Marapets is nearing 2 million members.

I haven't really watched that, but cool lol.
I did notice that the online members increased a lot though. In the morning (GMT) there's like... 500 online, then later on, there's 2k or more online... It's kind of funny to think back where there were a looooot of people online if there were 100 lol
Ya, I remember them days. It just amazes me how fast Marapets grew - and I wish we could somehow get more Marapets members here on these forums to talk about Marapets and such. It would be nice.
I believe all the advertisement campaigns, the referral contests, the content, and more are the reasons why Marapets grew so fast.
What do you think?

Yah, I think you're right. I bet Ian spent a lot of money on advertising xD
Personally I did a lot referring, mostly because of the referral contests.
Ya, that's the reason why because if you do, then you'd receive a warning, then probably a banning. It's a harsh rule, but it's an okay rule...
He has, lol, but it's okay. Marapets is still running fine.
How many people did you refer?

I have 177 referrals, but around 20 of them was bought. I had like 30 and couldn't seem to get anymore at some point xD
What do you mean by "bought"? Did you buy referrals from someone? How long did that take?

Are users still doing this? I remember when they used to do it all the time, but I haven't been on Marapets in ages so I don't know what's hot or what's new - just what I see on the news.

But, that MIGHT be because referrals are dumb at the moment. I've had 175 referrals for more than a week, still haven't received my flaming fan xD lol

Oh, that's a bug then. I'll let Ian know. Maybe because referrals died down and more people found out about Marapets from other sources - and not referrals?

Back to Ian xD His inventory gotta be flooded with referral prizes with also the extras accidently sent out.
Ya, he's always getting prizes anyways because he plays Marapets too - and works. Everytime an advertising campaign is launched, he usually uses his referral link to track how many referrals and new users join.

It's annoying though. I mean, you suddenly have referral system stamp, pirate costume, glowing spaced egg, rofling potion etc in your inventory, and then you have to send it back to Ian xD
That sucks though, do you receive a maramail if you have to send it back?

Well no, but last time it happened that was what I was told to, and on a forum there was a user who posted an answer from a support ticket. Staff told them to send back the items to Ian, but they could keep the extra pet levels they got.
Ya, but the staff could just take it from the users if it was really that bad, but what I love about Marapets is if you follow the staff orders, you'll be fine and not lose anything without noticing.

Nope, that's a really good thing.
I guess it takes too long for the staff to take the items away from the users. A lot of people got the referral prizes by accident, as far as I know.
Ya, it's probably because of a slight bug. It happens though because look at how many players are always on. There's bond to be a bug somewhere. So, Jasmin how long ahve you been playing Marapets now?

Uhm, mid-August I think it is, I've been playing for two years.
I think they'll be at 5,000 users online by the end of this year. Wow, I think I've been playing for 2 years too, but I don't play much.

Well, I do missions, quests, collect avatars, play games ones in a while, work on my club and go to forums... And battle, lol.
