Before you continue reading, I'd like to first apologize for how I word stuff here. xD I am not good at doing this type of stuff, so bear with me.

Mayumai v 0.0.3[Accepting Orders]
Mayumai is a platform that can easily become both fun and very addictive; it would be an excellent addition to your pet site game collection =3

Added score script example

A friend of mines decided to create music for the game
Scraped Mayumai v2 due to engine (read way below)

Demos
Please not that these demos have features that are currently disabled.
Control the hamster using the arrow keys. Left/Right to move, Up to jump.
Engine: http://www.letsgo-outsets.com/mayumai/
Editor: http://www.letsgo-outsets.com/mayumai/editor.html

Game Features
- Nine Object Types
This game comes with nine (9) default objects:
Red Balloons - Temp Platforms
Blue Balloons - Timed Platforms
Green Balloons - Objects that move left to right
Yellow Balloons - Objects that move up and down
Pink Balloons - Bounce Balloons
Black Balloons - Bomb that destroy other balloons
Orange Balloons - Gravity Balloons

- Easy to Add Object Types
Let's say you want addition item types for your game, like maybe doors that leads to bonus levels, keys, stuff like that. Whenever I do updates for this game, I can give you shared libraries that will easily allow you to add those objects to your game =3

- Editor
Why be stuck with the same 25 levels over and over again? With the editor, the team on your site can create their very own levels to challenge your members. Create endless levels for your game with the Mayumai editor

- Easy to add/edit XML files
The game loads the level data using XML files included with your game =3 I made them really simple to modify for whenever you need to do a quick change to something. Hell, you can even exchange your created levels with other sites that have this game =3

- Easy to update
If a major glitch every occurs in the game and I release an update for it, all you need to do is overwrite your old files to apply the updates; the updates will never affect your saved data!

- Shared Libraries
Let's say you don't like the sprite in your game or you wish to modify some of the graphics. Well, why not? Included with this game is the shared.fla while will allow you to modify everything from the title screen image to the game's graphics, so long as you have flash 6 =3

Conditions
- You must change the sprite
I tried looking on the internet for free to use sprites, and came across the hamster one currently in the demo, but it looks too much like Hamtaro to me D= I never really trust the information on the internet, so as a precaution, you should really change the hamster sprite in the game. Everything else was made by me, so you have permission to use it to your will =3

- Glitches with block item type [HAS BEEN FIXED]
A really nasty glitch occurs with the block item type D= Because of the way the engine is coded, it's difficult to create an item type that will stop the sprite from moving in a certain direction. The block does this, but it's very glitchy. When creating your levels, you may want to avoid using these blocks in such manners as shown in the demo's "Losing Life" level. I will continue trying to work on that glitch even if that means rewriting the engine (which really dun want to do >w<)

Price
Since this is both my first game I am actually selling and a game I actually wanted to do, I decided to make it cheap =3

Non-Unique Buy Price: $12 USD Per Site
Unique Buy Price: $70 USD[Unique Price is still open]

I will only accept payments via Paypal in USD currency. Please contact me before sending payment.
Paypal ID: orders@letsgo-outsets.com

After payment have been received, you will receive the game files in a zip folder via e-mail

Instructions - Please follow them!
In order to buy this game, first make a post in this thread saying which price you are buying it for (non-unique or unique), the site it's for, and the E-mail account you wish the game to be sent to. After making your post, PM me the same information. When I come online, I will either tell you if it's ok or not to send the payment via paypal. If I tell you it's o.k., send the payment, and once I have confirmed it, I will e-mail you the game.

What is Unique Buy Price?
When a user buys this game at it's unique price, I will officially discontinuing selling this game to other people, meaning those who have already brought the game plus the unique buyer will be the only persons to own the game. As well, the unique buyer will get additional files that were used to create this game, such as the engine fla file and the editor fla file =3 Which is especially good with this game since I made it's class so easy to modify.

Note
While I will begin accepting orders for this game, I will not begin release it until the end of next week. I am very determined to try and fix the block object type error D= As well, I need to make the game so that it sends the score to it's designated spot (so you guys can convert the score into currency).

Additional Files For This Game

- Scripts
None yet.

- Libaries
None yet. Will create upon request =3

Future Plans
Mayumai 2.0.0 - SCRAPED
This isn't possible to do with this engine. I mean, it is possible, but those damn blocks causes a major issue with the camera movement. As well, I could always recode the engine, but it's just not worth it. And said to say, the blocks really need to stay D=
If this game does indeed become popular, I intend on giving it a upgrade, mainly by adding dynamic cameras to the game so that you can create larger, more challenging worlds for your users. It's actually something I wanted to do for this version of it, but decided not too since it will take a bit of time completing. This update will not interfere with the levels you have already created =3

good luck just to let you know most pet site owners dont have that kind of budget to pay $70 a game so I dont think you will get any commissions but good luck anyways.

You should pay more attention to the post =3

Non-Unique Buy Price: $12 per site

I read that but $70 for unique....

Taowie
11-08-2007, 09:45 PM
Yes because with unique, you get the actual fla files that can be used to upgrade the game even more =3 Like if you wanted enemies, something I will not add. With the fla files, you can just program it yourself =3

Very good luck with selling the game Taowie. It looks great!

It reminds me of a game i made on macromedia fusion (i think that was the name). XD Good luck selling.

I dont see the logic in selling the unique and non-unique, unique means only one site will have it, however once you have sold non-unique versions to people, there is no option for it to be "unique" -.- You should buy the non-uniques back or something, otherwise it would be pointless to pay 70$ when you could just pay $12 to get the same option. o.O

Taowie

As I explained above the purpose of the unique price is for the buying to get the development files of the game. Those who buy it at the non-unique price ($12) will get all the files except the two files that compose the engine and editor, meaning the only thing they can chance throughout the game is it's graphic. But the who does have the unique file can do whatever they want with the game =3 Add enemies, compose their own objects, etc.

No one has to buy it at the unique price; in fact, I am hoping no one does so I can do a fun little upgrade to this game, but that option is available if a) the person who buys it at the unique price wants the development files and b) if the person who buys it a the unique price wants the game to be unique upon other sites (meaning not all sites, or if the unique buyer is the first buyer, no other site has it).

I have never done something like this before,so I am doing this in a method I both think is best and suggested to me =3

There are a lot of issues with the game that I found by moving through it. Sometimes I could jump like 20 times while in the air and other times I could walk through walls...

On top of that the hamster thing is always faces the same way so unless it is moon walking backwards it is kinda slack...

Yeah, I am fully away hence to why I haven't released it yet >w< It's due to the block object type >w< Right now I am waiting for one of my class mates to come online so I can talk to him about it/ maybe he cane give me an solution to it >w< If not, then it may just be best for me to remove the block object until I can figure out what excatly in the script is making it act odd like this.

if it isn't released then why is it for sale? :S...I personally would think we someone says it is for sale it should be ready to go...but that is just me...

I just think that if a store said they had something for sale you would expect it to be ready...maybe something like 'Coming Soon' would be a better way of putting it...

True, but then again, I am a weird guy =3 I was in a typing mood last night which I used to compose this thread. It if would satisfy you, I can change the title to "Coming Soon," (When creating this thread, I wanted to put something like "Setting up," but I wasn't sure if that was allowed in these forums =3)

Sorry, I neglected that comment.

If you notice in the topic, I mentioned that this sprite cannot be used in the game. Although I did find it on a site saying they were free to use, to me, it look a lot like Hamtaro:

http://www.therazor.org/oldroot/Spring03/photos/hamtaro.JPG

Don't you agree?

Any who, I set up the sprite movieclip in such a manner that all the buyer has to do is update the sprite's graphic clips to change them =3 They can edit the walking pose to even adding a jumping pose =3 So once person obtain their copy of the game, they can just change all that stuff themselves. Also, if they don't have flash, I'd be more than happy to do it for them.

Upon reprogramming this game, I made it an objective to make this game as customizable as possible. Everything from changing the game's graphic to even creating new object types; it's all simple to do with this system.

except I personally don't see how that will explain the sprite doing the moonwalk...please expand...because wouldn't you have to swap the image every time you hit an arrow?...unless you have the same image setup for moving left and moving right...

in the shared.fla file, I have three graphic clips for the sprite: an idle pose, a left-foot pose, and a right foot-pose. When changing the sprites, all you need to do is switch the images in those graphic clips to what you want your sprite to be animated as. Then there is a second and third moivieclip too; one for the walking animation of the sprite (the those graphic clips that show the sprite moving) and the hold container movieclip (which includes the walking movieclip, the idle graphic clip, and an area for if the person wish to add a jumping animation). This movieclip does two things:
If the user is going forwards (_x++), it will play the right movement frame.
if the user is going backwards (_x--), it will will play the left movement frame which is basically a flipped version of the right movement clip =3

The reason the sprite in this game is not animated is because i only used one image from it's collection.

Do you think it would be better if I just animated the hamster to show you what I mean? I am awful when it comes to explaining things D=

juddster

the left and right foot poses...wouldn't that be when you are moving forwards it either has the left foot forward or the right foot forward?...it may be better if you do (it will also help to show off your application a little better)

xD Alright, I will update the engine file as soon s I am done with my chorus around the house. I really do apologize for this >w< xD As you can see, I am obvious inexperienced when it comes to presentation.

@Roseole: Thanks, although I am no expert with flash yet xD I use to want to do software programming but recently this year I decided to change over to web programming. I haven't been working with flash a lot, but I do know enough to know how to get things i want done in flash.

My theory is to show off the program at it's best and if people want less than that it is fine (and easy to modify)...How long did it take you to learn how to do Flash...it is one of the 'languages' that I haven't learned yet but I think it would be beneficial for the site i'm working on if I do:P

Here you go Juddster:
http://www.letsgo-outsets.com/mayumai/

Using these two images:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/Taoishka/sprite_2.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/Taoishka/sprite_1.png

The sprite has became animated. Now when a person wants to change the sprite, they wil just need to edit twp graphic clips in the shared library: graphic_sprite_1 and graphic_sprite_2 (all they need to do is switch the image). The sprite movieclip will handle everything else from there.

As for how long it took me to learn flash, I am rally not sure. I've been messing around with it since I was 18 and ended up creating a few things with it, but this would be my third game I created with flash (the battle system I made I lost when my first PC died out and my drum game I am waiting for artwork to complete).

@CaseytheGRAND: Actually, the tutorial levels are composed of 10 levels, but with this game you are able to create your own levels for it =3

Oi, It's your cache. Hold on, I will make a little modification to the link so that your browser will redownload it =3

Taowie
11-09-2007, 12:14 PM
http://www.letsgo-outsets.com/mayumai/?randomvar Give that a try =3 You browser should redownload the file unless it's flash that isn't redownloading the shared file

juddster
11-09-2007, 12:17 PM
i still don't see a diff...and a lil other thign i noticed was that if I don't press anything the hamster guy randomly seems to move...is this supposed to happen?

PS - it did redownload because the skip button is no longer there...

Taowie
11-09-2007, 12:23 PM
That's very odd O.o.. Give me a few.

As for that, he is suppose to slide around after you release the arrow keys. Do you think that's unnecessary? If so I can easily remove it from the game =3

juddster
11-09-2007, 12:25 PM
ya...I personally think it is a lil useless thing(personally)...and for how long is it supposed to slide...and really slide left then right and left again?...it just seemed a little odd to me:P

http://www.letsgo-outsets.com/mayumai/

Here, give it a try again. You should see a message in the bottom-left area. If you do and if the sprite is still facing one direction, then it might be the shared library that has been cached.

juddster
11-09-2007, 12:29 PM
then it must be the shared lib because I can see the text

Taowie
11-09-2007, 12:34 PM
Yeah, that's very odd. I'll have to look into this >w< I mean, the flash file is working as it should on my browser D= I would suggest you clear your cache, but it usually a hassle to clear cache then having to download everything again >w<

Taowie
11-09-2007, 12:41 PM
I m going to go ahead and remove that slip and slide ability. I sorta have a hunch that it may be causing the block glitch.

Taowie
11-09-2007, 08:44 PM
Alright, I fixed the glitch with the blocks, although the end results is the blocks being a bit bigger than the sprite.

As well, I have added a testing script for submitting scores =3 Once a player has lost all their lives or completed the demo levels, they can submit their score and get a response from the server.

If anyone finds anymore errors/glitches with this game, please let me know >w< I'd like to have it fully debugged before selling it.
