View Full Version : Marasite Rules: Not Being Enforced.
Content must be appropriate for all ages. Marasites cannot have political, religious or sexual content. They cannot feature gaming sites similar to Marapets.
This quote can be found on the Marasites page.
I feel that some of these rules are not being enforced. Whenever there is a link to another site, they are sure to remove it, but when someone puts sexually oriented jokes on their Marasite, nothing is done, regardless of how many times it is reported.
Here are a few jokes I found on one players Marasite:
Q. Did you hear about the new blonde paint?
A. It's not real bright, but its cheap, and spreads easy.
Q. What did the blondes left leg say to her right leg?
A. Between the two of us, we can make a lot of money.
Q. What did the blondes left leg say to her right leg?
A. Nothing! They've never came in contact.
I don't know about you, but these don't seem to be "appropriate for all ages."
These jokes also seem to be "sexual content".
Heck, I'm 15 years old and these jokes are NOT something I want to here. I hate to think of the people younger than me who have read them.
I'm really don't mind the dumb blonde jokes, but referring to every blonde being a whore, well, that crosses the line.
I have reported this one Marasite 2 times. Each time I got a reply that staff would look into it, yet the jokes are still there.
Do you think this is a case of Marasite rules not being enforced?

ian just posts the rules there for legal reasons. you should report him to COPPA or something like that to get him in trouble. he isnt enforcing them because he's a 20 some odd year old molester who could care less what content children see. :P

aren't they already in trouble relating to COPPA? There is at least one rule the staff break themselves.

nah what happened was for like 3 days a few months ago the signup script was making every new account, even if they underage, as full site access. A parent reported it to us, and CARU people and we fixed it
But then CARU said we need to ban all of the accounts created, but it was like 25,000 accounts in those 3-5 days and because they are strict about the info we saved, we dont save peoples date of birth. I went through them manually and it took hours and underaged people I thought were under 13.
They then said I needed to add my name, address and phone number to privacy policy so concerned parents can call me at anytime of day and discuss it. I refused to do so
But its since been solved. I'm going to get a new simcard for my phone and add that number. if people want to call they can leave a message on voicemail and ill call them back

in my opinion, he deserves to be ridiculed by the COPPA and other organizations. i've heard many stories about him banning people simply because he had a grudge against them, along with stories of him not even enforcing rules.

I know some people who feel they have been banned for no reason. Of course, I haven't heard Ian's side of the story, so I don't know the whole thing.
With Ian, I really think it's more of WHO you are. That's what determines rules and punishment.
I believe you are right cpvr, he's either 18 or 19.
While those jokes you quoted are a bit mature, I see nothing wrong with them in the sense of nasty words, or even adult content.
Also, most of you are putting everything on Ian himself. He has staff that are his backup, and if there is a problem shouldn't they be contacted? I'm quite sure with a site as large as Mara that IAN himself does not have the TIME to check out everyones personal page or whatever.
This is of course my OPINION.
I reported this Marasite to staff, two times.
I do feel that they are adult content, this is pretty much saying that blondes are "easy", and tend to be whores.

Well, if you look at blonde jokes in general, then they (the ones posted) are much the same as all blonde jokes. In the world of jokes brunettes and redheads are both PERCEIVED to be more intelligent than blondes. Why this is I have no idea.
However, maybe you should pm or whatever the person that has up the page and tell him/her/whatever that their jokes offend you. Maybe they'd take them down and that would be the end of it.
I did send a maramail to the Marasite's owner.
He said he'd posted whatever he damned well pleased, and if I ever said anything to him about the jokes again, he'd have me banned because he was a "respected" member and was friends with multiple staff members.
That's what he claimed.
I didn't take it seriously, because he was not a mod/admin, I found it rather funny actually. I didn't feel like arguing with him, so I reported it to staff. It's been about... 3 months since I reported it last.
I am going to send in a support ticket, once again, and see if any of the staff will have it removed.
Here's just an update on this whole ordeal...

Yup, I've noticed that.
But there is one thing they don't quite know about me... when I set my mind to something, I'll get it done one way or the other. If I need to, I'll report it to someone outside of Marapets who can have the site itself handled.

No, I'm not at all surprised. I've been on Mara long enough to see how Ian/most of the staff are.
I'm still working on getting it removed. I'm going to send in another support ticket right now. If the jokes haven't been removed in 3 days, I'm going to post about it on the forums. Probably include the jokes as well. They can't ban me for posting them if it's okay to have them on Marasites. =)

So, evidently there is one decent staff member out there somewhere.

I know what you mean, the advertisements are inappropriate aswell. They are showing half-dressed people. Which is sexual content and it's not suitable for younger ages.

ok, i have been around marapets for 14 days now, and i have a few things i'd like to say.
first..OMG...this game is soooooooooooo addictive...and i love it. i love all the games. i love all the missions and quests, and goals. thay are all great fun.
now as for my dislikes...well... i think there should be limits on a couple of things. first i think there should be limits on how many of the same item you can buy from the shops. let me explain: see i have been trying to buy a toy, from the toy shop, in order to complete a goal for the little guy next to the snowman, you know the guy... unfortunatly for me, i have a slow computer, and by the time my page loads,(the moment of restock) everything i see in the shop is already gone. same thing with computer stuff, and minipet food, and car parts. everyone buys all the stuff, then puts it in their own shop for OUTRAGOUS prices. i just feel like this is unfair, not only to new players,but also to those of us who have slow running computers.
so i just think there should be a limit on how many of the same item you are allowed to buy from the shops. plus i think there should be a limit on how much someone can charge for those items.
i have never been able to complete a mission for the computer repair guy cause every time i try,he always wants the very things that i can never get from the shop...headphones, keyboards, monitors... things like that. and the only way to get those things is to go to the people who keep buying them all up from the shop, and they want so much for them that i can't afford them.
so...as much as i love marapets, i just think someone should set some limits.

Things have only gotten worse lately with the report button broke in the forums. I see alot of complaints in the future if things are not taken care of soon. to top the report button being broke, half of the mods and admins maramails dont work, so you dont know if they are receiving the mails sent to them about inappropriate topics. I have played on mara for 2 years and 3 months, and it is slowly going downhill, unfortunately.

I sent in several support tickets about one girl who had instructed people on her profile to mail certain members she knew in real life and to tell them how much of an idiot they are etc. Now I do not care if they are idiots, there is no reason to post things like that on a profile (I didn't even know her or the people she was instructing people to harass). I sent in three support tickets before it was removed.
