View Full Version : What new video games that you think are good that'll be released soon?
I haven't really been following the video game industry that much as of lately and I'd like to know what new video games that are currently in development or are soon to be released that you think are good...
I'd like to hear about them all if you could tell me about them.

Wii:
Beautiful Katamari: If everything I've heard is true, the PS3's lack of sales and programing difficulties have caused their version of this game to be canceled, and a Wii version made instead. Beautiful Katamari promises to expand upon the original Katamari formula, probably in the same way We Heart Katamari expanded upon Katamari Damacy. The Katamari story begins with your father, The King of All Cosmos, taking a drunken joyride through space. In the process of this, he knocks all the stars out of the cosmos. You, as the Prince, are forced to fix his error as you roll around a Katamari, rolling up the world around you by proxy, to create new stars. In the sequel, new cousins and game ideas are added. I am not sure what will change in Beautiful Katamari.
You can't really appreciate the idea until you play one of the games. It's one of the few franchises that I was going to miss from the Sony platforms. Look up some of the videos on Youtube or Game Trailers.
Super Smash Brothers: Brawl: Brawl is the third installment in the Super Smash Brothers franchise. Super Smash Brothers pits iconic Nintendo characters against each other in a fighting game. As a character is hit, rather than losing health, they gain percentage. As that percentage increases, attacks can knock them further and further away until they knocked out of the stage. An assortment of items and varying stages create a fast-paced experience. Gameplay is as simple or as advanced as players wish it to be, as they may simply button mash, or attempt techniques such as wavedashing and wall teching.
Brawl currently promises characters from Snake (as in Metal Gear Solid), Wario, to even Pit. A variety of new items are being added, and online play has been confirmed for this game, along with four different control schemes and custom button configurations. www.smashbros.com features daily updates on weekdays, at 3:00 A.M. EST. Smash Brothers has infinite replay value. If I could have but one game for the Wii, it would easily be this one.
Super Mario Galaxy: This game sold me on the Wii when I saw trailers for it. From Bros., to Land, to World, and finally, to Galaxy. The latest 3D Mario offering promises to be an epic if they pull it off correctly. Look on Youtube for the trailers. It should serve you much better than my words could.
Manhunt 2: To be fair, I'm really more curious than I am excited for this title. The title features Daniel Lamb. Lamb awakes in a mental institution, but remembers nothing of his situation. After an electrical storm knocks out power at the institution, Lamb and several other inmates escape. One, a former government employee, joins Lamb, promising to help him. As Lamb fights his way to escape, one execution after another, his memory begins to return to him, revealing a more sinister plot.
Manhunt 2, really, is about stalking and executing prey. It is a stealth game, and not a first person shooter as some seem to have gathered the impression that it is. You must sneak up on a foe, and kill them in brutal ways. The Wiimote makes this more interactive. You may castrate one foe, for example, with a pair of garden shears. Manhunt 2 is currently delayed due to receiving an AO rating. The game is all about the atmosphere. Watch some non-gameplay trailers to get an idea of where Rockstar is going.
Kirby (Working Title): Not much is known about this game other than "We promised it's not canceled." from HAL. I want it because I'm a fan of the Kirby series, and there isn't a single game within it I haven't played.
Games I don't have more elaboration on:
Dewy's Adventure. Disaster: Day of Criss. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.
Games I'm not sure about:
Geometry Wars: Galaxies. Alien Syndrome. Boogie. Battalion Wars 2. Project H.A.M.M.E.R. Opoona.
PS3:
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction: I don't know too much about this one, but Ratchet and Clank is one of my favorite franchises. News that they're going back towards more traditional Ratchet and Clank rather than the direction their last effort went is heartening.
Games I have no elaboration on:
LittleBigPlanet.
Super Smash Brothers: Brawl:
I've tried the past Super smash brothers... If I remember correctly it was for Nintendo 64 right? What's new in the new versions of Super smash brothers than what they used to be?

More characters, more items, gameplay changing elements, different move sets, more unlockables, new types of stages, better graphics, improved single player and multiplayer etc.
Look at some of the updates on smashbros.com and you'll see what they're adding. Of course, the online multiplayer is one of the biggest changes. But then you also have the new final smashes to change gameplay.
Yes, the first one was on the N64. Consider that a beta build of the game. Melee was where they fleshed it out, and now Brawl is where they're implementing everything they've learned and are trying to make a great game out of it. A Smash Brothers title will likely be popular throughout the life span of the system, so they've clearly put a lot of their effort and resources into this game as can be evidenced by the updates we've seen.
Also, the addition of Snake to the character roster opens the door to possible characters such as Sonic or Mega Man, although nothing has been confirmed. If you have a Wii or GCN, rent Melee to get an idea of the differences. I bought Melee and a Wavebird with my Wii, and after playing the first Smash Brothers for over five years, it felt rather dated in comparison when I played it again a few days ago.
If you liked the first one, Melee is, and Brawl will be, titles you'll like even more.
Xbox 360: Fable 2
Tried Fable 1? Then you will probably like Fable 2. http://www.fable2.com/
That's great news EBK, what game system is the latest version on now?
I have a PS3, so most of these titles are PS3 exclusive.
Ninja Gaiden (refering to the Beautiful Katamari PS3 'programming difficulties', one of the people from Team Ninja said that a developer who has trouble programming for the PS3 should 'get out' of the profession)
Lair
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet and Clank TOD
Final Fantasy XIII
MGS4: Guns of the Patriots
Warhawk (I public beta test this now)
LittleBigPlanet
Eye of Judgment - looks amazingly cool.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - This looks great. It is by Naughty Dog and looks great. :)

Brawl will be on the Wii later this year, probably around the holiday rush.
