View Full Version : What features would you like to see reimplemented?
Currently we have a few features disabled, such as similar threads (which shows the similar threads related to the current one, a great feature indeed.) We also have the feature (users currently on the thread: shows guests and users).
Would you guys like these features re-implemented? It's up to you guys if you want them, we'll bring them back.

Well I wasnt here when they were on before, but I like the sound of them, and it would help me in search of threads that I would like to post on,
Yup, that's alright. It would also help us determine many things and what threads are the most successful, and how we can grow upon them and make threads like them to become a success as well.

Yes, but that's because it didn't have enough similar threads to relate to.

Not to insult VPL, but, do we really have enough now? It might work in our virtual pet sections to a degree, but it doesn't sound like that would work too well for the rest of the forums.
Those both sound like they would be good features for a larger forum (say, one that could qualify for BigBoards), but all I see is the same problem the "related threads" feature had before, and the other feature telling me "1 User, 0 Guests" on most threads at this stage of VPL. I just don't believe they would be useful at the present time, although they would be wise to bring back should we see enough growth where the boards are really active and large enough for those features to have their potentials properly utilized.
But that's just my opinion.
On a personal note, I'd like to see us go back to our old avatar size restrictions. Every time I come across something I'd like to use as an avatar here, I feel the restrictive embrace of "80x80, 2.0 KB".
EBK: You're right. Maybe these features aren't ready to come back at this time. Perhaps, when we're a lot larger and have like 1,000 threads and at least 20,000 threads.
What's our current avatar size restrictions right now?

What's the kb restriction? Is it a large one or a small one?

Dimensions of 150x150 pixels. That allows for all the various different assortments of avatars I've seen. If the size limit quoted is accurate (as my account still has the 80x80, 2.0 KB settings), that's far more than enough. If I had requested one, it would have only been 50 KB, and even that would have been allowing quite a bit of extra space.

I think the similar threads would be great. Then you wouldn't have to go search for them, lol.
I don't really want the guests/users looking at the thread back, that might just be me though:P
Why? Do you think it'll be some type of turn-off to visitors or?
We'll bring back the similiar threads feature as soon as we can. :)
I have a suggestion. I think the whole pet list should be revamped. I have found many pet sites on the list that are no longer a pet site. I'm going to run through all of them, and list which ones are no longer petsites.
Also, petsites that are just starting, and some that have been going for a while need to be added to the list.
The ones that no longer are petsites, should be added to the dead list.
This site is all about the list after all, and I just feel that people need to know a complete list of what's out there to play on.
Fly: You're correct, we're aware many pet sites don't work - and we'll completely remove them from the list, and when they're back up and running, they'll come back to the directory. Which pet sites have you come across that don't work anymore? You can report them to us via our contact us (http://www.virtualpetlist.com/forum/sendmessage.php) form and we'll get it done.

Which ones? We have a submit game (http://www.virtualpetlist.com/submitsite.php) form where users & game owners can submit a game that they've found, or own, with the sitename, url, and description of the game.

Well, as far as not knowing why a site is dead, I would suggest that a thread be made for users of this wonderful board to see if they have a knowledge of the site.
I know one that's dead was one of my favorites :( Billapaws. It was taken down by the owner (I think his name was James) and he went to work at another site....

What do you mean? Do they keep redirecting once you access the site itself? If this is the case, then the site is dead.

I'm always adding new pet sites to the list. I'd say the list is updated on a weekly basis, but I haven't been checking for the dead sites. I'm grateful that we have users like you, Fly, because without you guys, we'd be working twice as hard to grow Virtual pet list.

It's listed in the rpg links (http://www.virtualpetlist.com/rpglinks.php) section, but I'll move it to the Virtual Pet Sites (http://www.virtualpetlist.com/virtual-pet-sites.php) section now as its the appropriate place for it. Just an error on my end... Has there been any talk of Pookapetz? We try not to add any new games, unless it's ready to be listed - and such, because if the owner doesn't want it listed, then we'd receive an email asking that it should be taken down.
How old is Peekypets?
Well about Pooka, there hasn't been much mention of it at all. I myself like to play it. It's owned by thebernman. It's sort of like ipetsite in a way, but it's a different company. He's adding to the scripts all the time. I talk to him regularly, and new things are being added all the time. He does not put alot of the updates in the news however....so if you see it, then you see it lol.
I like it. You get unlimited pets. One account only, but with the unlimited pets you can get...why get another account? Money is fairly easy to earn also.
About Peekypets - Peeky is not very old. I haven't played it yet tho I keep meaning to. (sheesh on me about that too, cause I love trying new ones out) I don't know much about the site, so there's not alot I can say about it.
Oh, so it's based off the ipetsite software, but has now revamped and turn into its own site? I like. Is there any possiblility you could get him here?
So, Pooka isn't listed yet, I'll get it listed then. What's it site's description, do you know?
We'll also work on getting Peekypets added tonight as well.

I can't really tell ya that much about Peeky cause I haven't played it yet. Sorry :( I keep meaning to join it dang me....but I'm a bit slow sometimes lol.
