For those people that work for virtual pet sites, and or created a pet site... What inspired you to work for virtual pet sites or create one? I'd love to hear what inspired you because it could possible inspired other people to do the same...

I know when I worked for Zetapets the thing that inspired me to work for them was the pleasure of bringing new content, and such to the website so that the users wouldn't be bored, because I was a user just like them that made his way to the top of staff.

Well, I started just using and loving petsites. I loved the community aspect of them and how they could really affect your mood and brighten your day.

When I got the opportunity to become a staff member on one I snapped it up. I love thinking that I can just brighten maybe one persons day by being kind and helpful, or working towards new releases that might help or make someone smile. I just think that if you work hard and want it you can make even a small difference to one person, and that is just magical.

I love it and hope to continue to help petsite users everywhere for a good while yet.

Wow....great question.

I was a staff member for Veropets and Chris, owner of Teripets, asked for my layout services and such. I agreed to it even though I told him that I was committed to Veropets. Well, Chris and I simply clicked. He asked me to come aboard as his equal and create Teripets.

I expressed my ideas to him and he simply gave me the wheel. We decided on ideas and if he disliked an idea of mine, it wasn't pursued and vice versa. He focused more on programming; whereas, I focused more on the overall appearance of the site, art, and simply the perception that the site would have on people.

I had ideas at Veropets; however, they simply shot my ideas down. I felt that a lot of changes should be made, but Veropets wasn't moving in the same direction as I would have liked to have seen.

I feel that Teripets, in its early stages, was potentially the most threatening pet site to large pet sites. Teripets had it all. Today, I can't speak on Teripets...simply because I truly no longer work for them. I began college around this time last year and I had to go on leave. I lost contact with the staff and the new administrators took the site in a different direction.

I created Teripets with the thought that it should be orginial and unlike any other pet site. The art was suberb. I hand-picked and searched every artist. I knew what image I wanted for Teripets to portray.

After having playing Neopets (like everyone else), I moved to Powerpets, then to staff for Veropets, then finally Teripets. I feel that if you have the passion, desire, and motivation then it's simply undeniable that you can accomplish great things.

Teripets was infact original, but one thing I'd love to know - do the users play a huge part to your motivation, dedication, and inspiration?

If I ever got to work on a pet site, I think it'd be because I thought the site had potential, but it wasn't very succesful. Then I'd try to figure out what I could do to help out, and if I couldn't do anything, then I would of course not want to be a staff.

I should also be less lazy and go read their content, like the history of it or something lol

Hmm, I'd have to say the thing that first got me started on it was when I started making creatures of my own, then started writing. Plus I joined multiple different sites as an artist because I loved the fact of becoming well-known on sites and being part of the making of that specific site I worked on.

To set it straight, the main reason I was inspired was due to Neopets. Everyone talked about them, bought their items, played the petsite. Consider it jealousy. I wanted something like that, but bigger. I never really liked Neo and just the thought of everyone loving them made me want to create something even better.

Currently though, Dakurrapets is based off of my own world I have created (and live in, really). I write books about it, draw out the creatures I make up, and all that jazz. :)

I'm a Neopets veteran, and I think that's what made me want to make KinoIsle. I saw what people wanted, and I myself wanted different things to do on the website. I tried LOADS of different petsites, but none of them really did anything for me, except for Herupets for a couple of months. That's when I decided to just bite the bullet and do it myself.

Originally I was inspired to create my own VP site because I didn't feel as if there was a pet site that catered 100% to its users needs, and actually considered each person was not expendable. I made my New Years resolution to create Cyopets, and that has also been a factor that has kept me focused on the ultimate goal...

I've found that now, my driving factor has been the amount of determination I now owe to my 249 friends. I made a promise to stick with it early on, and their support has been a constant reminder of what the team and I have already achieved.

If we go through my list ->

Teripets (Moderator) - I occassionally browse through TWG, and AWG, to search for new petsites that I think have potential, or are actually worth playing. Teripets was one. Right off the bat, the tempforums were very active, full of great ideas, the art was fantastic, and the planned features were what make (in my opinion) a successful petsite. I guess I joined on as a moderator there because I wanted to be apart of all of that stuff, and because I love helping users, and listening to what they want, and there's no better position than a moderator to be able to do that.

Polairia (Moderator/Programmer) - I started as a moderator here, for the same reasons I did Teripets, but as the site lacked more and more content, I saw the people getting upset, so I applied to program for them to better my own skills, and help the site stay on its feet. Unfortunately, Jake never released any of my features to the public site, so Polairia died :/

Subeta (Programmer/Administrator) - Keith and I have been friends for many, many years and after Polairia went down, I thought that my skills as a programmer were good enough that I could do some stuff for Subeta. Well, they were, and I was hired. I guess my largest motivation to program and administrate for subeta was to broaden my programming skill in PHP, and really just bring the users into subeta decisions :) I was often the one to fix the bugs on the site, and code user suggestions more than main features. I fixed somewhere around 150 bugs before I quit.

Daxitove (Co-Owner [, Programmer][, Administrator]) - After David and I were both let go from Subeta, we decided to come together and design our own petsite. Both of our largest motivations is the pressure of the other successful petsites, and wanting to out do them completely (which I think we're accomplishing ;)) Daxitove should prove to be something amazing, and when its released I think a lot of people will realise that and start taking it more seriously.

I don't even know if I can remember all the places I've been at... off the top of my head I remember working at subeta, teripets, polairia, and neorus. I worked at these sites because I thought I liked the users and staff and I wanted to help out. I don't draw stuff for sites anymore though. Afterall, if the site does well what will I get from it?

hmm, Well, like many petsite addicts, I started as one of the million faceless users on neopets. I was on neopets off and on for a few years, then I was browsing a neo-help site and I saw a banner for another petsite, Rescreatu. Through the years I was on neo I had found, and tried out several other petsites but none of the kept my attention like res did.

In January or February, after being with rescreatu for almost a year, I got my chance at being staff, I took it right away. I took an open support position, just the thought of being staff on a site you love is enough. Ive seen many changes to rescreatu since that first day I clicked that banner, and its just a great feeling to be able to watch something great unfold. I have so much faith in rescreatus potential i cant even begin to express it in words. My love for the site was the only real reason I applied for staff.

Then one day, not to long ago, a friend of mine from res, webby, asked me to be staff on his site, Crescio. its not in beta yet, but the two owners (webby and nick) and an admin (chris) where good friends of mine so I decided to help out. I like how the site is coming along, there is definitely potential. But it is a bit early to tell.
