View Full Version : Information NEEDED about dead virtual pet sites or not! Please read and reply

Hey! I was going through the list of petsites that virtual pet list has and have found alot of sites that are either down, or are now ads for different things, or just plain dead.
If you know anything about these sites, can you please reply to this thread? I and all of the VPL members I'm sure would like to know why a particular site went down, or died out.

Joukai - advertisement site
Mangapets - refresh page over and over - gone
Mekkipets - gone
Meth pimps - advertisement
Millipets - refresh page
Myspace shit - not a petsite
Neorus - not a petsite
Pet gamer - not a petsite
PetStorm - refresh page over and over - gone
Pixelpets - not a game
project mutant - advertising
Protopets - refresh page over and over - gone
Ruzio - sites been cancelled
Simupets - Refresh page over and over - gone
Sim Stables - Refresh page over and over - gone
Sledzz - Refresh page over and over - gone
Soaring horses - not a game
Spielpets - Refresh page over and over - gone
The game where horses race - advertisement
The ultimate horse - advertisement
Trenopets - ad site
Zetapets - dead site ----not updated on a regular basis.

There are also quite a few that are either in beta right now, or not quite ready to open.

Cyberpets2 - Owner lost interest.
Kojopets - was turned into Polairia.
unipets - owner had no more time for it, due to school.
Simupets - crashed and owners disappeared.

Jinopets is currently in the process of being moved to our dead virtual pet sites (http://www.virtualpetlist.com/dead-virtual-pet-sites.php) section in a few days, and we'd love to know what happened to Jinopets? Did the owner (Nick) lose interest in the development of Jinopets or what? What happened? Do you know? Save Jinopets from going into the dead virtual pet sites, do you want that? I sure don't, Jinopets was a wonderful pet site, nice updates, great staff, and a great community...

What do you think? Let's talk Jinopets and if its dead or not. :D

Lol okay so I talked with you about the Jinopets thing yesterday, Cpvr... xD But I guess the topic got messed up or something so I'll repost so other people know if they're curious.

Around April of 2005, the Jinopets staff started working on a project called Jinopets 2. We came to this decision because there was so much that we wanted to add to the site that we simply couldn't - mostly due to outdated coding and artwork and whatnot... so we decided to start over and remake Jinopets, by remaking the art, coding, and adding new features. As we worked on the project, it escaladed into something bigger - basically, we were coming up with ideas that would make Jinopets a completely different petsite. We ended up taking the site in a different direction - straying more into the RPG realm of the gaming world, yet still retaining some of the virtual petsite characteristics of the old site. As it stands now, the Jinopets 2 has evolved into 'Tales of Tiershia', which we are now calling an RPG. (though it will no doubt appeal to vps players because of the art and aspects - so in a way, you could probably place it in the vps category as well.)

Anyways, there is bad news as well. During this time, especially in the first year of J2's development, we basically neglected to update the original Jinopets site... we were planning on keeping Jinopets up even when Jinopets 2 was finished (we falsely estimated the Jinopets 2 project to take only several months) however, it obviously took more time than we thought it would, and so around 2006 sometime and up until recently, Jinopets disappeared due to lack of money for server payments. (due to lack of donations because of lack of user activity/interest, due to our neglect of the original site.) The Tales of Tiershia site is now up - and you can find it at either http://jinopets.com/ or http://tiershia.com/. (jinopets.com redirects to tiershia.com.)

So all in all... we're not planning on bringing the original Jinopets site back. It will be replaced with Tales of Tiershia. So it's your call on whether that places Jinopets in the 'dead virtual pet sites' section.

I would think if Jinopets is not coming back as Jinopets, then the site is dead.

Tales of Tiershia would be a new site...am I right?

Well... I'm honestly not sure how many members are still waiting for 'Jinopets 2'. Not many, if any at all. Many of them got tired of waiting or gave up on it when the site was down. The new site will NOT retain the old accounts from Jinopets... so I guess the only way for old members to find out about it is for them to either hear about it somewhere, or visit jinopets.com out of curiousity. We hope that we'll have some old members returning, but we're not counting on it.

EVERYTHING will be different, lol. Basically the only thing we're keeping the same from the original Jinopets is the names of some pets. Even the pet designs are completely different.

I'm not gonna say any of our features, other than we're doing a character system. Not that that's really exciting or anything, because tons of sites do it now. But for us, it's a big part of the way the site works and how you play it. It's also very elaborate. But yeah. When the site's open, there'll definately be a section that explains some of the main/key features and how to use them.

No release date as of yet... we're not that far into actual development and programming, though we've got it mostly all planned out at this point and we have a good amount of art. There won't be many sneak peaks, if any... but I'll ask Nick if a few days before opening if we can post screenshots and explain our new features and stuff on VPL and VPF.

Cyberpets2 went down because the owner lost interast and Needed more time for a project he was working on.

I had the chanse to Buy Cyberpets2, But never took it..

There was a V2 that was promised, but that never got past the preview stage.

The owner, Ron, eventually replaced it with a blog with little to no warning.

Edit: I found the site and apparently it's not a blog anymore. It still exists o_O Only problem is that when you register and are able to access your account, none of the links lead anywhere.

You also can not activate your account because that link, like the others, doesn't go anywhere.

Kojopets got turned into polairia*
and at ruzio the head artist lost contect with the owner/developer(tom).
From what I know about tom(I used to work with him on a project) is that he's kind of lazy, if he finishes something it's not the best script and clearly he took his time create V2 of ruzio which the head artist still wants to make although Tom I'm not sure of.

I found an email that was his, but for all I know, he could have changed it by now. It's on a mirror of the old website.

I don't see why not. There seems to be some interest in the site. I would do it, but I've never played there.

If he's changed his email, then you should get something telling you that... either way, it will get some information for every one. So yes please do it.

Sorry for a late reply; I read your email yesterday morning, just forgot to reply haha.

I'm happy to know that there's still a UniPets fan out there at this time hahaha. I was planning to start up UniPets again early this year, around April; I even registered a two year domain for it ( www.upv2.net), but then the workload from school never stops increasing. I dunno mm, if I do work on it, it has to be during the holidays.

This term is my last for Year 11 and I'll advance to Year 12 in a few months. When it's around that time, things will be serious and I'm gonna be flooded with exams. If you're around my age, you would understand it's hard to have a compromise.

I hope I haven't disappointed you.

Simupets is dead, don't think it's coming back.

I had a friend that was staff on there, and she had convinced me to join when it went down. Apparently I think it crashed or something and the two programmer/ownerss had just dissappeared and wouldn't get in contact with the third co-owner and she gave up and didn't even know how to get it back anyway.

My friend was ranting about that a lot since it was one of the only reasons she stayed in the VP scene.

Zetapets--When I follow the link I get - Sorry, the page you are looking for cannot be found.
So I listed it.

If the server was down temp. an hour or two for some reason, the domain may have redirected you to a parked page that had advertisements. This has never been reported to happen any other time though.

Digi-Petz has a lack of updates on the news page right now, but this is because all the updates are going into Digi-Petz v3 which won't be released until march. :)

v3 Updates can be found on the Digi-Petz forums.

Okay, I've just joined to give you info, this is what I know:

CelosPlanet - Never heard of it
Igadi's Universe - I'm not sure what happened to it ;-; I loved that site, what happened?
aftermathzone - The owner didn't pay the domain or something, from what I've heard it deteriorated after someone hacked it and then it went down, the original owner hasn't been in contact with anyone. A few people did try to remake it but eventually it died. I loved that site, and if anyone owned that kitty-type pet called Icy for a nickname who dated my pet, Lynxo, please get in touch with me!

Billapaws - James got tired of running a pet site. He was sick of dealing with the imaturity that goes on in the VPS world (running a site catering to young players will bring young players - what can ya do?) Anyhow, so I bought it out and paid him to code a new game that we call Wytheria: The Mystic Island. James is in college studying something computer related and no longer is in the virtual pet circuit. I have the rights to all billapets (Since I had redrawn them all anyhow at the time the site closed) and scripts, maps, etc and I have used some of them on our new site. Billapaws domain is probably still owned by James and I have no idea what he is doing with it. I have given some billapets items away to different pet sites (including teinopets) as well as some of the pets. Billapaws is not coming back.

Veropets - I had done some artwork at one point for them but when their site got hacked (I'm pretty sure that's why the closed) they decided to re-open with a version2 (I think they may have been one of the first sites to try that - it was quite a few years ago) anyhow, they kept saying they were going to do it, but, never did. And now their development forums aren't even open. So I don't know who owns the art. I have sorta reclaimed one or two pieces of art I did for them and used them on my own site. I don't know if they are coming back.
