I see a lot of people advertising their serves to host pet sites, however I have to say 90% are overpriced.

The service I recommend, and I don't even work for them, is Dreamhost (http://www.Dreamhost.com).
I stand by their service and reliability 100%

Most the sites I see here offer only 1G hard drive space, and like 10G of bandwidth for about 2$-10$ a month

At dreamhost I pay only 10$ a month and a one time 100$ set up fee and receive 5k of bandwidth that grows 40G per week and over 270G of hard drive space (this is cheaper than buying a 270g external hard drive!), Unlimited e-mail accounts, unlimited subdomains, web ftp access, as well as what is listed below:

Flash Media
Manage MySQL
Htaccess/WebDAV
Block Spiders
Jabber IM
Subversion
Media Streaming
One-Click Installs
FrontPage Extension
plus much more!

And like I said, I don't even work for them but I'm so happy with what I get from them I hate seeing you guys get scammed into thinking you're getting the best for you're money.

The people there are so helpful too. Have a question that their "DreamWiki" can't answer? E-mail or call them and they will get you a fast and as helpful as possible response.

You guys are free to host where ever you like, but I recommend checking out Dreamhost before making any final decisions, they're by far the best I've ever found.

Hopefully that will save you guys a lot of trouble and money!

I used DreamHost once.
I found it ULTRA confusing.

Just depends who you are and what you are using it for, I suppose.

lol, I can offer you 9999999999GB too if you want, the point is it isnt going to be used...

Those hosts OVERSELL, which means says 1 thing but give you another...

If your site ends up using too much of their server usage then it will probably be suspended anyway...

And if you really need 300GB of space for your site, you probably shouldnt be paying 9.95 a month for your hosting, should be around the 200 - 400 mark for a dedicated server...

Im not here to try and rip people off, I offer support and service with my hosting... They say they offer support, but "hey my site isn't working" - "get over it" isn't really support if you ask me...

I help all of my clients setup their websites, even teach newbies how to use the Cpanel, which I guarentee DOZENS of these overselling hosts wouldnt do, unless you paid them extra of course...

Also if you are using more then 5Gb even for your site, you most probably should bring someone in who knows how to compress your images properly, 5 GB is ALOT of space...

P.S. My prices are in Australian dollars too, so they are less then the U.S. counterparts...

If anyone wants hosting, let me know how much space you NEED and how much you can afford, and we'll see if we can work something out...

@Kael - You are probably right, it may depend on the user, but I don't find it confusing at all.

@Jooshy - Dreamhost has always been helpful when I've needed help and never have a "get over it" attitude. and I use about 50% of the space they give me. Even if it's not all stuff for my website, the general space comes in handy. I keep important files from my computer there, and other general non-website related images, psd files, programs, my oekaki board, ect. I Know it seems like a lot of space, but its still more for my money than anything i've seen other people offer.

and 5G is not alot of space. My laptop has 80gigs on it, and 25 gigs of it are my drawings/.psd files alone, and yes they are compressed to max size while keeping quality.

and I'm not saying you're wrongabout your own web hosting, just lending my oppinion and advice. I'm not here to argue with anyone.

chances are your violating Dreamhost's TOS if you have programs on their, unless they are under lock & key...

"I hate seeing you guys get scammed" - not to have a go, but i think calling us "scammers" is a bit harsh, and im sure anyone else who has offered their services here would agree with me...

I just want to leave you with 1 last thought...

If we all went with the BIGGEST & with the most to offer, we would all still be stuck at neopets.....
