BREAKING NEWS - THE DAILY NEOPETS.COM

--------------

MTV Networks, the company who manages Neopets.com, has just announced that a staggering $100,000,000 will be invested over the next two years into it's various online gaming sites, including Neopets.com.

As well as a heckload of investment in it's Nick and NickJR online portals, this money will also be aimed at NeoStudios.

From the press statement, just released:

"NeoStudios: Neopets (www.neopets.com) will be transformed into Neostudios, which will focus on developing new virtual world gaming experiences online, while continuing to grow and evolve the existing ones. The first of these will launch at the end of 2008 with a goal to launch a new one every other year."

We're unsure as yet what this means for Neopets; giving the project a name, NeoStudios, could well be a sign that MTV, owned by Viacom, are definately changing things (and with that amount of money, probably for the better). Whilst it seems the existing virtual worlds will stay, it'll develop more; what these actually are are unsure. It want's to create "new gaming experiences"; Neopets in itself is one, and with more being created (on a large time scale, one every other year), there could be very substantial changes to Neopets come 2008.

The announcement was made in New York and Seattle, USA, during Casual Connect, a gaming conference.

Wow, this is surpising. If viacom owns "Nick and Nick JR" then I expect them to use alot of the $100million on crazy advertising, tons of merchandise, and I was also thinking, "NeoStudios" could eventually be a tv channel. And Neopets could be a serious of episodes on tv.

That would be neat! I'd watch Neopets on tv.

Yeah, one day I think neopets might even turn into a sort of pokemon. Where there is playing cards, TV shows and movies, and still the regular website. Who knows.

Lol I lmao at that spam reply.

Anyhow, yes Viacom obviously owns Neopets and MTV. Don't know why you didn't just say Viacom in your thread? How does MTV have anything to do with it.

EDIT:
Never mind. This thread is a year old. Forget what i originally typed.. XD

I didn't know MTV had anything to do with Neopets either O_O
Well this is going to be interesting seeing what they do with this NeoStudios project, I hope they don't completely demolish the site though, hopefully they will be expanding on what is already there and not concentrate on players paying with money so much.

This type of expansion is going to have a hell of a lot more people looking towards virtual pet websites!
