So blog on VPL, I had a really great time yesterday.
Yesterday was a Tuesday, and ever Tuesday I go to a young adult church group called Four40 - I love this place! For reals. Great people, it's very friendly, and everyone there is like family though I've only known them for a few months.

Ok well I never usually make these little blog things but MAN TODAY HAS BEEN CRAZY!!! I've been offered 5 jobs today, and landed 3, while the other 2 are in the works. I also managed to hunt down past peers from school in California and receive all of my past class syllabi sans 2. I ALSO finally got a hold of a recommendation letter for a scholarship that I need to turn in IMMEDIATELY so tomorrow morning that's going to the school and oh wow my head I am just dying right now time to play a video ...

I've seen just about enough of these threads being posted. It's just about every day I see a new one for a new situation with an owner and someone who works under them.

Disclaimer: This is a personal opinion rant post that's sure to get flamed, so flamers, I'm prepared. If you don't want to read another one of these, please be my guest and move on because that's all this is really going to be.

As an artist I've run into a few clients that are well-intentioned, but can simply drive me bonkers! Whether there is a misunderstanding or whether they just don't know how to communicate what they need.
I'm posting this for clients to educate themselves on how to better approach a commission and most importantly, get exactly what they need while respecting the artist.

More often then not I come across clients who don't know the artistic process. That's O.K. ...

So I had to drop out of school after my first year because I had no financial support to finish it out and there were not enough loans to get me through. I'm doing everything I can to work my way back, and one of those ways is this contest!

I entered a Threadless Design Challenge where the grand prize is $5,000, and other prizes are $2,500. Any amount at this point would help me on my way back to school. I would really appreciate it if you could take two seconds to vote on my design! ...

I started a new job last week which has allowed me to have a steady income, but also means I have less time to work on commissions and still do personal work.
Therefore, as of tomorrow, I will be putting a hiatus on incoming VPL commissions. I will of course continue my work with any current commissions, MisticPets and Aywas, but I will not be taking any more projects that will distract me from my goals.
I'll be spending all of my extra drawing time now focusing on personal work ...

Well it turns out there was intense water damage and it even started rusting on the logic board. So now, I basically have a new computer on the inside. All my files and programs are safe! Yay! I can get back to work now

To anyone commissioning me or planning on contacting me within the next two weeks:

My laptop is currently in the computer "ER" right now and won't be returned to me for another 5-7 business days! For now I am using my fiance's laptop, however he is using a different operating system and does NOT have the adobe suite. Any current commissions must be put on hold until my laptop is returned and is in working condition. I'm sorry for the delay!

I was very disappointed recently in a client, whom I am sad to say, was Icepets. In the beginning I was very excited and honored to be making a map for them, especially after they had set up a fundraiser specifically for the map I was meant to complete (you may still be able to see the banner ads with a thermometer I made for them) however it suddenly turned sour.

Hello again! I don't normally post updates like these, especially religious ones, but since I've been in Ohio I've met this wonderful little girl at the church who's about 10 years old now. She's exactly like me in looks and personality when I was that age, but unfortunately has the same family life that I had then.

I can't go into detail, but this young lady also waits for a friend while everyone is picked up by mom and dad to take them home. She carries her sketchbook around everywhere ...

Today is the day I leave California for Ohio! It's the best and worst moment in my life. I leave my dream school and all of my friends to be married to the love of my life! I couldn't ask for anything more bittersweet! I'm at the airport gate right now, I've just stopped tearing up a minute or two ago. It switches back and forth between butterflies of ecstasy and extraordinary sadness. Once I land I'll need to job hunt and re-learn how to drive my new car!
