My goal of losing 100 pounds

Rate this Entry
About a month ago, I embarked on a weight lose mission, to drop all these pounds that I've racked on my body over the past few months, and years alone. I wasn't eating too healthy, and I damn sure wasn't working out or giving my body the time to start dropping the weight.

I got a gym membership with my brother and my girlfriend, who are also my main motivation to losing weight. I also want to lose weight for the sake of my health, and to be healthier for my daughter.

Well, I'm already seeing results, but I don't want to speak on those results just yet because I want to have pictures to prove the weight lose, and I think I'll have some pictures ready by July and/or August.

But, one thing is for certain, I do a lot of cardio - at least 30 minutes a day, and then I do some weights, also, sit in the sauna/hot tub. I also do some swimming.

My main goal is to look like I did back in 2006 and that took a lot of my time, but I know in my heart that I can do this again, and I haven't received any help from any trainers because I do a lot of research. I love drinking protein shakes sometimes as well. They help me recover from a deep workout.

But, anyways, my goal is to lose 100 pounds or so and I'll do it.

Does anyone here have any weight goals in mind? How are you doing with your weight lose plan?

Are you going to try changing your eating and exercise habits too, or just sort of try and lose the weight? Sorry if that's too personal, I'm just curious! I hope you do well, but don't strain yourself too much, and make sure you are eating enough to sustain yourself! I know that if you lose too much weight too fast it can be less-than-healthy!

Only a month and already seeing results is great! It's awesome that you're trying to be more healthy, I think that's something we can all try to do! I'm not on a diet or anything, but I do try to eat healthy, and when I first started my switch to healthier foods and exercise, I lost more than 10 pounds quite immediately : )

I hope you keep telling us about your progress!

Ya, I'm already eating different. I don't eat fast food anymore(which I loved eating). Of course, I know I have to in take at least 1200 to 1500 calories a day or so because of my current weight.

@Drea I will do just that. I'm so proud of myself that I'm able to walk around in my muscle shirt again without feeling embarrassed. My energy levels are a lot higher now as well so I'm quite happy. I played two games of basketball last week and I was able to hang through both games without feeling exhausted.

During a particularly rough patch in my life, I gained quite a bit of weight. I went from being my typical 130 to about 185...at one point, I did hit 196, but that had to have been something to do with a crappy scale because I never touched that number again. Anyway...I was pretty heavy for about 5 months total...when I moved back home, I dropped down to 170 almost right away just because I was happier. Then, I cut out pop from my diet and seriously, that alone made me drop 20 pounds within 2 weeks (yeah, that sounds bad, but TBH when you start a diet of some sort, you can expect the first 2 weeks to be where you see the largest number drops on the scale while your body adjusts to the diet). After that, I leveled out to dropping 1-3 pounds a week for the next 3-4 months until I hit about 135. I've been sitting between 128-135 pretty much ever since, and it's been years now.

It's amazing what depression can do to a person, and making a few permanent life changes can really turn your life around! From reading your posts through the months, I know you've cut some bad people out of your life, and I hope that has helped Adding in the exercise and eating healthy, man, I can only imagine the kind of results you're getting! Do you feel more energized and happier now?

@Myztacia Ya, the rough patch for me was hanging out with the wrong people, and always eating fatty foods. And not to mention the fact that I've been in a relationship for a while, and was previously married - when you're in a relationship sometimes, you just don't notice your weight. My breaking point was seeing the scale and seeing myself weighing 350+ pounds, I was scared.

Congratulations on your weight lost though, that's great!!

I don't want to die of a heart attack or anything or get diabetes since it runs it my family. I'm now at 319 pounds according to the scale as of yesterday. I've been battling depression and bipolar for years. Some of my medications are known to cause weight gains, but I need it, so I don't really worry about it.

Yes, I feel a lot more energized now, and of course, happier. It makes me so happy that my hardwork at the gym is paying off. But, after my surgery for the removal of my gall bladder, I'm going to be pushed back about a week or two because of recovery, so I'm trying my best to get in as much cardio and weights as I can.

I'm trying to lose some weight so I could be healthier. All in all, I've basically quit soda which is a huge step. I used to drink it all the time but I've cut down to maybe one to twice a week. Which means I'm drinking a lot more water, milk and juices.

Once summer rolls around and school is over, I have to go back to summer school for gym since I missed a credit in 10th grade. It's pretty much 5-6 weeks of swimming 2 hours a day. I plan to start eating healthier and everything over the summer so during gym I'll be able to lose a lot of weight in the pool. Also, re-starting back on my birth control will help cut out all the water weight I carry (which is a lot, normally once I'm back on a normal cycle, I lose about 10-15 lbs of water weight and my metabolism increases.

I'm hoping the summer I'll be able to lose quite a bit of weight. I'm also watching what I'm eating. Lots more veggies and I'm doing some tips I found via Tumblr to help. However, its getting hard for me to go out and workout since my depression is so bad and literally, all I do is sit or sleep. So, I need to get that under control to not only make me happy and so I can have the drive to work out.

I wanna aim high and lose 100 lbs before I head off to college. I know it seems like a lot but I'll be keeping up the working out and everything once summer school is over. Hell, if I could lose 75lbs, I'd be so much happier =].

@Sirkowskii How long has it been since you cut out the soda? I'm going to be honest if I drink soda, its always diet. Crystal light is real nice as well. What type of juices do you drink? Apple juice is great.
Swimming burns a lot of calories, so you're doing well.

Do you count your calories as well? Ya, depression sucks. Are you taking any medications for it? If not, you should try to get on one so it can help you.

Your goal is just as good as mine. You can also implement running into your daily activity, I do the elipitical for 30 to 40 minutes when I do cardio. What was your original weight though? It's great to hear a success story, and I'm proud of you that you're dropping weight as well, its more healthy that way.

I cut out soda about two weeks ago and mostly I've been drinking water, milk, cranberry juice, orange juice, apple juice or other juices.

Not really counting my calories but I am watching what I'm eating. No more eating after 10 pm and I'm trying to eat healthier than I have been. Yesterday I kind of cheated cause I was sick and I wanted something sweet so badly. I get this horrible craving for ice cream and cookies when I'm sick.

I should be getting up on anti-depressants soon. I'll be taking Cymbalta I believe since it works well for my mom.

Not sure what my original weight was but it was up in the 290's which deffo isn't good for a girl my age. My whole family (even my cousins and relatives) are very over weight and I don't want to have the problem my mom has. I'm not sure how much I have lost but even if it's a pound or two since I cut out the soda, that's good. I'm gonna start trying this one thing my friends mom did. Everyday after dinner, she walked around the block and she lost a lot of weight doing that and watching what she ate.

@Sirkowskii I cheated yesterday as well. I had some ice cream, and I don't eat pass 7 PM. I usually go to the gym at night to help burn all the calories I've eaten throughout the day.
And I heard Cymbalta was good, I used to be on wellbutrin and it worked okay. My Lithium and Seroquel helps with the depression.

Ya, that runs in my family as well. My dad is pretty big, and my grandpa is too. But, then I have cousins and uncles that always work out. Here's a picture of me back in 2006 when I really was going hard in the gym.

You can do it though, we all can! We can be each other's support team and discuss what we do on a daily basis, and share some tips.

For me, I've been just doing cardio and taking the time to exercise - it doesn't help that you have school (sitting down) for 7 hours, then you go home and do homework for another 2 hours, and spend the rest of the time on the computer doing commissions. I'm naturally thin due to family genetics - I weigh only 100 to 110 pounds - but I've been concerned about my health.

I get sick easily from regular colds, and I know it's because of my exercising and health that's not up to par. I fit in cardiodance, badminton, and walking home each week and hoping that once summer starts I can go swimming! I hope that I can get back into shape and join our school's wrestling / judo team or go and do some martial arts locally I'm basically having to reverse my activities from waaayyy back from grade 8... I really hope I can do it

As for food, I stopped drinking a lot of coca cola, but I have one every few weeks just for the hell of it. I drink mostly water and juice now. I need to eat more veggies still though - that's something I still got to work on! xD

I just love the energized feeling that I get from working out and exercising. I don't get tired that often now, and I feel my sleeping pattern has changed dramatically, too.

Let us know how you get on!

I am struggling with weight at the moment! I am often assured that I'm not fat, but its important to me to feel good about myself, and right now I don't! I don't drive or earn much so I can't join a gym, but I have some workout DVD's, walk the dog every day, and I am trying to cut out bad foods. It is difficult though because I work round the corner from a McDonalds and when the whole office goes there for lunch, its kind of hard to say, "No thanks, I'll stay here and eat my carrots..alone.." xD

@Neon I've noticed that the more you do cardio, the better your lungs are, your nose, etc. It really does help. If I drink a coke, or sprite, it has to be diet these days. I've also cut out all cool-laid and changed to crystal light. It's a real nice change, and crystal light is very good.

@Loomi As soon as I get back to the gym, I'll keep you guys updated, as well as post a "Before" picture, and "After". I never considered myself as being "fat" or "over-weight", I consider myself of having a lack of exercise, and allowing the weight to build up, it was more my fault than anyone ones.

Have you tried to sprint for a few minutes? Instead of jogging? It really helps boast your heart-rate and get the blood flowing. I live near Mcdonalds, Jack in the box, and a burger king. I won't touch a burger from Mcdonalds, but give me the fish filet and I'll take it, but with no tatar sauce. Just because Mcdonalds has a wide variety, doesn't mean you can't eat healthy there, its very possible.

And I agree with you, it is hard.
