Planning My Future
In the next couple of year I would love to move out to the US for a better opportunity in life.
I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to help me with the following to plan for the future.
If you could fill out my mini questionnaire if you American, I would greatly appreciate your time.

1. What state are you from :
2. How is the economy in your state :
3. How is your states neighborhood :
4. How much does the average sized house cost in the state you live in :
5. Can houses be rented in the state you from, if so how much would it cost roughly per week/or/month?

Canada is not cold, lol. Where I live has been par with Texas' weather. Just a silly stereotype.

Try looking up this list with ratings of the states, as these usually answer all your questions. Also, think about what kind of weather you want and what kind of rules (as these vary greatly, even inside a state). I would recommend avoiding states like California because it has strict (stupid) rules and a bad economy. For example, there is this fish in the states known as the GloFish. It is a genetically altered danio (they now come in a tetra variety as well) that was originally used for scientific purposes but is now used as a pet. It is legal in ALL the states BUT California. :K

    1. What state are you from : Pennsylvania
    2. How is the economy in your state : Surprisingly good if you stay out of the cities.
    3. How is your states neighborhood : Cities don't tend to be that good, but the rural areas are usually developed enough that you can get internet, and have plenty of access to shopping and stuff with no problem.
    4. How much does the average sized house cost in the state you live in : Pennsylvania really has a lot of EVERYTHING. I live in good sized house on 8 acres of land with a 3 large other buildings and it's worth about 200k. If you want something average, like a smaller house in a neighborhood it'll be cheaper than that. ^.^ Plenty of places to rent too.

    5. Can houses be rented in the state you from, if so how much would it cost roughly per week/or/month? Average apartment will run you $600 a month in my area. If you want a whole house it'll probably be twice that depending on the county you live in.

    1. What state are you from : Kansas (on the Missouri state line)
    2. How is the economy in your state : Very good, imho
    3. How is your states neighborhood : I live in a really nice neighborhood, but I know there are some not-so-nice ones.
    4. How much does the average sized house cost in the state you live in : My neighborhood runs 300-400k, but I bet you could find one for 150k easily.
    5. Can houses be rented in the state you from, if so how much would it cost roughly per week/or/month? I've only looked at apartments, but I imagine houses would be about double apartments, so 800-1200

I love Kansas, I think it would be a great place to move to

Avoid California and New York for the sake of stupid laws x.x Also, both states seem to be pretty expensive no matter where you are. HOWEVER! I LOVE CALIFORNIA. I live in San Diego now, and OMGEEE the weather is so freaking fantastic. The diversity is amazing, the work opportunities (as long as you have a skill!) are EVERYWHERE, and it's like a huge city with smalltown charm. Traffic isn't horrible like it is in New York (granted, we DO have rush hour! but NY is bad like all the time x.x) I could NOT get a job in New York...partially why I left (I also just hated it >.<)

Avoid North Dakota and South Dakota unless you really like rural living...it's always so windy, and it sounds like a siren all night long in the winter. AND FREAKIN COLD MAN! (Cold = expensive to heat) Jobs are very sparse.

I love Minnesota and can't wait to move back there...so I'm horribly biased on it. The northern part of the state is very cold in winter (but there's trees, which help shelter you from the wind and keep the costs a bit lower), the summers are pretty hot, land prices are about $1k/acre, housing is cheap ($75k houses in town, $125k houses in the country). In the southern part, though, you get into farm land, the cities, and more expensive housing. It's also about 10 degrees warmer on average than the northern part. Michigan and Wisconsin are very comparable to Minnesota. All 3 states are not the greatest as far as job opportunities, though :/

If you think about Canada, it's warmer by the ocean in winter...otherwise yes, it does get pretty cold.

    1. What state are you from : Colorado

    2. How is the economy in your state : Around Denver and the surrounding cities, it's doing very well

    3. How is your states neighborhood : I'm currently in Golden and it's wonderful neighborhood. Same with Aurora.

    4. How much does the average sized house cost in the state you live in : Hrm... well it really varies based on location. The closer to Denver the more expensive, but you can still find a good sized house about 20-30 minutes from Denver for much cheaper.

    5. Can houses be rented in the state you from, if so how much would it cost roughly per week/or/month? In Golden, my rent is currently around $450/month including utilities (with four housemates). One of my friends has an apartment for $750/month total. The cost of living in Colorado is a bit higher than most states, but it's a beautiful place. I believe we are ranked pretty high with the most days of sun a year. We do get one or two bad snow storms a year, but all jobs are very understanding of that. Our public transport is also really expanding out so you won't need car to get to main cities/locations. And if you love nature, the Rocky Mountains are right out your back door (or deer and coyotes hanging out in your backyard)

Colorado sounds lovely. I love nature and animals, I dont hike or anything, but I do like scenery. I love sun, but I do love myself some snow too! sadly we only get a few inches of snow in the UK if we are lucky.

Would you be able to answer the follow few questions for me?

    1. does the state have good jobs available?
    2. how much does the average job pay in Colorado per week/month?

    Thanks :3

    1. Depends on what kind of job you are looking for Just a general job at a store? Or like at a design company? Do you have a degree of some sort?
    2. Same question as above :3
http://www.monster.com/ may help you get an idea. Generally standard jobs at stores pay around $8-$15/hr for just standard labor (minimum wage is around $7.50/hr)

@Alkaki Regnant, I dont have a degree or grades yet as I've only just left school. What my predict grades are are Merit +, and Im going on do to a Level 2 iMedia game design course, but when I come to America I would like to do a general job at a store and go games and stuff here for extra $
The standard job pays you've state seems really good.

    ALSO!
What one of these would Colorado be under?

I envy all of you with cheap housing and rental fees. -___-

I live in the most expensive province in Canada... where housing costs up to a million dollars, and rent for a room is about 800$.

Totally avoid New York. Our taxes are insanely heavy here, gas is expensive and pretty much everything else here isn't the best. The mortgage for our house is costing us about $1,000 a month but it was cut in half to about $500 since we were able to pay a size-able amount off the house. We live in a suburban area which is nice.

The house next door to us, which we own as well, just sold for $130,000 but were still looking out for higher offers (the contract we're under is allowing us the wiggle room to take an offer if it's $4,000 higher since we didn't come close to our asking price for the house). Wanna buy our house XD?

No, it's finland you should come to - great access to the whole of europe, everyone understands english, education and health services are free and if you get in trouble/become unemployed, the goverment'll help you out!

Also: Internet works everywhere and sites are faster because of the time difference... no traffic!

Rent for a 4-room housing is about 600-900e, depending on location and other stuff.

Apparently Texas is one of the best states in the US in terms of economy. Unemployment is lower than most, and laws make it much easier to create a successful business there. I am from Illinois. Don't move here. We just have corrupt Chicago politicians who put us in more debt \o/
