So I thought maybe I could turn this into a topic of discussion by presenting it as a little game. I invite anyone to describe a game where they really liked the gameplay but not the story. Describe what kind of story you would give the game instead, to make it something you would really enjoy. :)

For me, I don't really like the elder scrolls universe at all; I don't like meddlesome gods, I don't like killing humanoids as a major game activity, and I especially don't like all the horror elements in that game. The story-related parts of Skyrim I liked are the exploring of mysterious ancient ruins, the ability to earn the title of thane and own a house, and the ability to marry an NPC. I also liked the alchemy, armor-crafting, horse riding, and archery combat, which are more-or-less story-independent.

So the way I'd change it around is make it like this: you are an educated person from another time or planet who is suddenly marooned in this mostly-illiterate, mostly-peaceful tribal world. Your main activity is hunting monsters with a bow and using their drops to craft better weapons and armor; also you become the world's only archeologist, exploring ruins because they are the main place you can find clues about where you are and how you got there. The ruins have plenty of monsters, but also more puzzles like a Zelda game or an adventure game. Each of the different tribes in this world also has some relics and books which give clues about the past; you have to earn access to these. You start out looking like an alien or outlander to everyone, but this is a magical world and you earn/learn modification to your appearance which allow you to look like a wide assortment of things, including blending in to each of the tribes. Your appearance gives you bonuses to persuasion and romance. Ultimately you master the world, becoming able to either create your own tribe (including getting married and/or adopting) or go back where you came this world from.

- I'm going to open up commissions to the first three people interested; once I've finished those I will open commissions again if anybody is interested. I'll do up to ten items at a time.

- I can do pretty much any type of item you require (see some examples of line art I've done here), but I especially enjoy making items themed around virtual pets, food, and weapons.

- I'm willing to work in any size you need your items to be, as well as line thickness. Just let me know the specifics!

- I work fast, so all three commissions should be done within a week, depending on the quantity/complexity of the items. If things are delayed for whatever reason, I will let you know.

- Sketches are $1.50 each, Line arts are $2.50 each. Prices in USD, through Paypal only.

- For line art, I will email all the sketches to you at once for approval, and will then ink and send the sai/psd files once payment is received. For sketches, I will email you the small versions of the sketches, and will then send the full size after payment is received.

My current internship is at Disney Online's studio in Boulder. While the project is fun (remaking the Disney Create flash art program in html5/javascript), the office feels... dead. It's super quiet and only about 1/4 of the cubicles are actually filled. *shrugs* No one seems overly happy with their job.

My other internship is at a little webdesign/development/marketing company (~25 employees . Everyone there is fun, no one is afraid to ask questions (which often is shouting across the room or wheeling over in our chairs), nerf gun fights happen often, everyone goes to lunch together.... it's like a big group of friends doing what they love. I just love this place!

So anyone else have any good or bad internships?
