Art marketplace forum changes

Years ago I messaged cpvr about the changes and he approved them and separated the forum to sellers and buyers. Now I see it's back to how it was at the very beginning. Have you changed your mind or just the changes were lost duriung the year 2011 issue?

Anyway, the proposal is to change the marketplace so everyone can find what is where and know where to post.
- For buyers / Looking for artist - people who want to order something will post there
- For sellers(commissions) - offers from artists, one post per artist allowed with examples of what he/she is capable of doing (just the current Commissions subforum)
- For sellers(one time offers) - offers from artists, all kind of one time sales, auctions, etc

I'm not good at naming these forum, but you get the premise. 3 separate places, one for people who buy are, one who sell one time stuff and one for "portfolios" of artists who look for work.

These changes would GREATLY help me find an artist for my site, so I'm eagerly looking forward to these :)

I have PM'ed some artists and they have not even read these messages yet (they seem to not know that they got a message and they do not visit the forum anymore). In most/all forums you get an email when you got a PM (it has so many advantages it's not even need to list them :)). Do we have this functionality? If not, can you enable this functionality (AFAIR this should be enabled by default, so maybe someone disabled it upon the forum restoration or there is some misconfiguration)?

Be noted that we are deleting zero-posters from time to time. To avoid this please start posting soon. Click on this message bar if you wish to make an introduction thread now..." - clicking on "this message bar" does not bring you to any PostNewThread.

BTW, what has happened to the forum? I'm quite sure I have posted something over the years (also my old bookmarks stopped working). Was there some change to the software/database?

While i like the idea of the staff online widget I really do not like the inclusion of the avatars with them. It takes up quite a lot of space seeing as the avatars can be 150x150 making the widget 900+ pixels in height so i leave the widget closed and do not bother with it. I know most people will say "just leave it closed" but that kind of defeats the idea doesn't it?

Hear me out as I do not think the avatars really add any thing to the bare concept of the staff online widget. A user should recognize the the staff by username not just avatar.

I know some people will think I'm just complaining again and that I need "more happiness in my life" but I only say what's on my mind when I like the concept of things but not the execution. I am a personal subscriber to the notion that less is more.

Could anyone tell me how to fix this? Please and thank you!

While I absolutely love that I can edit my posts if I make a uh-oh, a silly typo, or my thoughts all of a sudden occur to me and I just need to add it to the current thought. But sometimes when there's a disagreement, debate, or just a heated discussion, I see users editing their posts to either something completely different from what they said, removing any rude comments they originally made that they know the user it's against has already seen, or just deleting the entire thing.

I'm not sure how you can stop this, but it's unfair when a user calls someone a name, or makes rude comments and can get away with it by simply editing their original post.

Hello everyone, new member here! Just joined after a very long time of lurking.

Just a little head's up - in the registration process, I think the 'secret question' can use a little update since it's now 2013. (Not sure if I'm allowed to give details here?). It took me quite a while to figure it out anyway.

Thanks for your time. :)

Cpvr is temporarily on leave. I'm not sure when he will be back. He was puking repeatedly for a few days straight and went to the hospital to make sure everything is okay. I thought he would be back sooner, but it's been a few days now, so I'm posting to let everyone know in case they're trying to get in touch with him.

He asked me to take charge and watch over VPL in his absence. If anyone needs any immediate assistance, message me.

Thanks!
