    Googles launches a new Chromebook

Google, together with its partner Samsung, launched a new Chromebook and its first desktop Chromebox today. The most important change to the new Samsung Series 5 Chromebook is that it is significantly faster. While earlier versions featured a battery-friendly Intel Atom chip, these first Chromebooks often felt underpowered. This new version features an Intel Core chip, as well as 4GB of RAM, an HD camera, two USB 2.0 ports and a 1280×800 display. Pricing starts at $449 for the WiFi-only version. While this is a nice update, what’s more interesting here is the launch of Google’s first Chromebox ($329), a Mac Mini-like desktop version of the Chromebook that features more ports than the Chromebook, though it is missing an SD card reader. Otherwise, though, its specs are pretty similar to the laptop version. This is the first time Google is officially putting ChromeOS on a desktop machine, something it hopes will make the browser-centric operating system more appealing to business customers.

The new Chromeboxes will come to Best Buy in the U.S. in the coming weeks. In the U.K., they are now available at PC World and Currys stores.

Anyone interested in purchasing this? Or are you going to be sticking with Microsoft and/or Apple?

Here's the video of this new computer.

I'm sticking with Microsoft (and probably getting a Mac soon since our desktop took a crap on us <3) at least until they get all the kinks worked out, and they have everything on the Chromebook up to par. I don't want to impulsively buy this now, and then in a few months they come out with something much much better. I'll wait a while x'D

Interesting to see this, though! C: I wonder how Google does things... what about the Google Glasses? They've got so much that they're doing x.x

Facebook has been doing a lot more than Google is currently doing.

I'm not sure what's going on with those Google Glasses, but here's some information > http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/05/goo...sses-trackpad/
Google’s Project Glass, the augmented reality glasses that you can wear and feel as though you are from the future, has been confirmed to feature a trackpad as part of its hardware make up. An unusual source, California Lieutenant Governor and former San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom, did share this revelation to the masses with Google’s Brin as a guest on his Current TV show, where this episode showed off a swiping act on what looks like a picture gallery across the large black area on the right side of the glasses. After handing the Google Glasses over to Newsom, Brin told him not to touch the pad on the side, and it dose seem to denote that the trackpad can be swiped in both directions, side to side in order to view the picture gallery, as well as up or down in order to exit and enter the particular gallery. Newsom was more than impressed with the result, touting, “The image was remarkably clear. You can easily forget you have them on, and sense the capacity of use in the future.”
Will you be buying a pair of Google glasses when they come out?

If the price is right, I may get Google Glasses The preview video looked awesome, even if they don't end up accomplishing it. I'd just (again) wait for later versions and see if there's any health risks to them >_> (don't wanna fry my eyes)
