    Interview with Lizzy/Nintendo - Artist of Marapets.com

Lizzy/Nintendo is one of the artists for Marapets.com. It's her and @NiGHTS that are in charge of Mara's art work.
I'd also like to thank @Jammybee for helping us out with this interview.

*Dear Lizzy, how old are you?

-I believe I am the youngest member working under Ian. I'm seventeen now, but I'll be eighteen next month in July.

*What is it like working for Marapets? Are you an paid artist?

    - Yes, artists are the only paid members. I enjoy drawing for Marapets other than having to downgrade my artwork to try and match whatever style currently exists. Otherwise if I didn’t, members would complain. I had a rough start but I believe now my artwork has become more appreciated which makes me feel better about my work. Some pet artwork I really look up to is Subeta's. That website is absolutely gorgeous.

What sparked your decision to become an artist for Marapets?

    - For a while I've wanted to apply as I watched Marapets's art become progressively worse. It's most horrid update was when those three new Mordo colors were released! I took immediate action when I saw those and actually Mara-mailed Ian, since my two month old artist application was never even looked at. I actually received a reply from him in a few minutes, I wasn't actually expecting one from him, but I got his attention. There was also the support of Mara-members I had on my side, along with Jammy himself, which helped me out! Both Andrea @NiGHTS and I became Mara-artists around the same time due that Mordo update. Hehe.

Who taught you how to draw? Did you teach yourself?

-I never really know how to answer that question other than saying I just taught myself. Art has always been a passion of mine. : )

*Where in the world are you located? Tell us about your country/city.

    - I live in the USA but will move states from Tennessee to Georgia for art school soon. Tennessee is... alright I guess. xD

*Are you in a college or high school? How are you doing in school?

-I'll be going to S.C.A.D in Georgia soon for 2D and 3D animation! I did well when I was in high school and hope to do phenomenal in college. The most difficult part about high school was really just the kids around me having to deal with.

*What are some things you're in charge of to draw on Marapets?

-I draw whatever Ian, the owner, assigns me to create. Andrea and I are art-partners and work on a lot of the projects given together.
There isn't a huge artist team; it's only the two of us.

*Could you tell us if there's a new layout in the works, or not?

-Marapets desperately needs new one! I've talked to Andrea about it and we would love to create one that lures new members in rather than scaring them off because of the art quality. At the moment Ian has assignments for us, but once those are finished, we'd like to talk about designing a whole new layout as well as a world map.

*As an artist, what are some new things you and your team plan on bringing to Marapets?

-Ian has a few ideas for small new features here and there. In the future though I'd like to make some major alterations and revamps to the site's art, starting with the hideous layout...
Oh and the human avatars, if possible I would like to revamp those.

*How much power do you have on Marapets?

-I create artwork! Being a Mara-artist and all, that's really all I can do. xD
I just offer suggestions and ideas, and some from other members and then draw them.

*If you could change one major thing what would you change?

-The administration. The moderation is awful, and the Marapets community is just as unattractive as its front page. The majority of players who give themselves the label of an "rc'er" are irritating and pestering members who need a limited/permanent forum ban rather than just a warning. I've seen them pick on new members, which then makes them quit shortly after even starting to play. That's just unacceptable. The forums are moderated poorly and moderators themselves wait too long to handle a situation instead of taking immediate action. It's embarrassing really to watch this happen.

*If you had the money and Marapets was for sale, would you buy it?

-I'd love to own a virtual pet-site! But I wouldn't be able to own Marapets by myself, since I am no programmer. Realistically I probably couldn't handle the position of being the owner. :c
-I would just really like to thank the Marapets players who are supportive of my and Andrea’s work. It really motivates me seeing that members appreciate the small spice we are adding to the style.

We would like to thank @Nintendo for taking the time out and answering out questions. Feel free to comment on this interview and post anything else you'd like to see answered.

Very nice interview, I've always wanted to hear from a Marapets artist! Since their art is so different from most petsite out there, yet it's still one of the most popular petsites out right now.

    cream . . . flowers . . . everything's nice, ignore all the bad stuff.
And the world's just not like that. And I think that the sooner people
get to the point where they realize that the ugly stuff is just as
important as the beautiful stuff - it goes hand in hand, I think that
