Karma is a serious bitch in this situation. He was crying because he knows what type of torture the other inmates are going to give him. His parents are trying to raise money to get him out by selling watermelon. LOL

The way he reacted wasn't guilt stricken, it was of someone who did not do the act.
Unfortunately people have been wrongly convicted of things they did not do in the past, this may be one of these cases.
