That's the plan, yes![]()
Unfortunately, Angel has spent the last 18 months being lied to and ripped off. Part of the reason I decided to step in and help as I can.
KS is definitely having to struggle to overcome some obstacles. That's nothing unusual though. To me, it's not running into obstacles that makes someone a bad or good site owner. It's being willing to learn from mistakes and being willing to do whatever it takes to correct the problems, that makes a good site owner. Angel is doing everything in her power to get the site up to snuff. I can't say exactly how long a recode will take, but the site will be playable in the meantime - the most egregious existing bugs and glitches have already been fixed up, and Wisu will continue to fix any additional problems that crop up until the recode is in place.
It's good to see people from other sites give help like this.
@Grotesque the consultation/advice/planning stuff I'm doing for free, yes, but the programming, Angel is paying for. When I say "my programmer" I simply mean that she's the same programmer who I use, who I recommended to Angel because I know her to be good, fast, and reliable. She has a degree in software engineering.
It's a shame it's going to have to be recoded. That's why you should find a real programmer to do the job properly at the start.
When it's recoded will users have to register again and will there be a limit to how many users can join?
@Lewis, nope you won't have to sign up again! The site is still fully playable while the recode is being done.
Unfortunately, when a person doesn't know anything about programming themselves, it's a real challenge to find a programmer who is as good as they say they are. It's kind of like taking your car to a mechanic - if you know nothing about cars then you have to rely on the mechanic to know what they are doing. You can try getting recommendations and references, but the fact that this is the internet makes it a lot harder. You can get 3 references and they can all turn out to be fake. Unfortunately Angel was paying very well for what she thought was good code, and it turned out to be... not so good code. But, it's a live and learn situation. I should also point out that there has been more than one programmer working on KS and I don't in any way mean to point a finger at any particular person because it was a case where there were some who gave MUCH better and more honest effort and had much greater skill than others... I will leave it at that.
What's happening right now is related to what was supposed to just be the installation of more RAM... I can't really say more than that at the moment, but it's being worked on.
