Mara no longer has a pound.

I'm sure most of you know it was taken down due to pets being disowned that weren't theirs. After looking into this more I might've actually figured out how to do it, I'm unsure right now. (I can't actually test it....) Many people thought it was hacking, which was poor judgement, it's definitely a glitch within the coding itself. The reason I say this is simply because only pets were targeted, and some of the pets being disowned, the owners hadn't logged on for a while.

That being said one of the managers (higher than admin) has supposedly said that the pound may be closed indefinitely. I don't have access to screencapping this information as I no longer have adult forum access, which is most likely where this was posted. If it's indeed closed indefinitely, it's a real issue. Not just in the sense that players can no longer disown pets, but it just further confirms my beliefs that Ian will only be recycling code he has lying around and fixing server issues when they occur.

Anyways I just thought VPL should know, let the discussion commence.

Was there anything posted in the forums/news about it? Ian doesn't visit here anymore. I haven't seen him on MSN in a while either, so hopefully a staff member can let us know.

Can you quote what Shaggybear said? It's a strange move to remove the pound though. But, it could be very buggy, so Ian took it down for a recode or something? If users want, they could use the pet trading system, right?

Some people say it was a glitch and others say it was a hacker. I was online at the time. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it was a hacker because only the best named and best statted pets were getting put in the pound, but not all of them. When people claimed the pets from the pound they were being pounded again or jumping from one person to another. When people were posting on the forums that their pets hadn't been taken, the next minute one was taken. It's like they were reading the forums. I'm not pretending to know much about coding though, it could be that. I just think that a hacker was more likely.
