User badges?

Quick question: I noticed the user badges underneath the names. I understand how it works with the post counts and such, but how do you get one as a programmer/artist/admin? I've searched everywhere but haven't found it.

For artists there is a thread to get approved; if you're approved you get the Approved Artist badge, for programmers there is a group you can apply to join.
