    Good, cheap computer?

    Welp, I'm currently trying to save up for a new computer at the moment, as my tiny netbook certainly does not meet my needs as far as what I want for doing art and playing games. Only thing is, I have no clue as to what to save up for exactly..
    I'm more interested in getting a laptop at the moment, since I don't have a monitor for a desktop (except for my tv lol). 500$ and below range will probably be all I can be patient enough to save for.
    At the moment, I know I want something with at least 2.0 GHz RAM and 2GB memory.. It'd have to be capible of running things like photoshop and livestream, and run games like minecraft or Sims maybe XD But other than that, I have no clue what to look for. I've googled around and stuff, but I since I don't know where to start to look, I havent really found anything I liked..
    I was pretty interested in the Apple Mac mini, seems to have what I want, but the price is a little steep XD

    So, any suggestions, guys? c:

    I can't offer any specific suggestions, but Asus computers have worked really well for me. They have great hardware!

    I've had positive experiences with Dell, though they are not cheap.

    Asus is good for cheap but high quality hardware. I'm not sure about the endurance/longevity, however.

    Warranties are usually what make computers expensive

    I got a new HP laptop a month ago or so, it was about $650. Depending on your specs and how much you'd want to pay, I'd recommend Acer, Dell, and HP. Maybe @Love can help you with this. She's one of the computer experts here[I'd say haha]

    Dell is really expensive.

    HP, Compaq, Asus, Acer, Gateway
    Expensive ----------> Least Expensive
    Higher Quality -------> Lesser

    Thanks for the suggestions, I'll certainly look into Asus. I looked around Amazon for Asus laptops, but there's a lot to go through heh.. The Asus site wasn't much help as I couldn't find prices O.o; Is there any model in particular that'd be good to look in to?
    My current notebook is an Acer, which actually holds up pretty good so long I be careful.. But it seems to follow Gabby's little chart; not all that great quality here

    @Aevix

    There are some things you really need to consider before making a choice on brand. Answer these few questions for me and I'll tell you what some good choices are. These questions are VERY important because I'd assume the most important thing in buying a laptop is knowing it's something that you are going to enjoy for x amount of time.

    1.) What kind of computer tech are you able to do? Are you comfortable with taking apart a laptop to fix any issues?
    2.) What kind of websites to your frequent? Do you go to any questionable websites like porn or maybe even file sharing like torrents? (Yes or no is fine lol it's a serious question not trying to embarrass anyone.))
    3.) What's more important looks or function?
    4.) What's more important quality or system specs that make it sound cool?

    Lemme know the answers to those things and I'll give you my opinion on the best choices and WHY I think they are the best choices.

    @Love
    1) None whatsoever. (as much as I'd love to open my computer to take a look inside, I'm rather afraid of messing something up)
    2) Yeah, both. (/lols. havent gotten a virus or anything from doing so yet, assuming that's what you're concerned of with this one?)
    3) Function. Uh, give me a rock that works like a super computer and I'm not complaining! XD Looks are nice, but secondary to function.
    4) Quality. Cool sounding specs aren't so cool if they have nothing to show for. But on that same note, I do take note of the processor, RAM, and memory.

    I say HP or ASUS are great computers I mean you want to run low end programs so it won't be to hard Say you can get around 8 gb of ram for $500 so thats a up side and a 500 GB hard drive space.
