I honestly don't see there being any difference, except how easy the domain URL may be to remember.
For example, Overstock recently bought the domain o . co, which is very easy to remember, but makes no difference as to how you browse the site.

I prefer .net or .org... For our magazine we use .ca though because it's Canadian.
When I do get the time to work full time on my pet site, it's going to be .org. ;3"Share your spark and the world will light up."
