The guy we are renting from right now is not that nice, and the condo needs a lot of repairs but he refuses to put any money into the repairs. He's still trying to sell it too, so we are getting people viewing the condo at weird times, and its not that awesome. The house we are moving into costs the same but has more room, a pool, and pool and lawn care are included in the rent, plus we'll actually be on a lease again instead of fighting with this month to month like he's been forcing us to.
That's even better then. I'd love to have a pool in my backyard or something, and you're in a hot state as well so that will be fine and dandy on hot summer days. We had a pool in our backyard when I lived in MA. We can't have one in our backyard out here in Texas though, its against the Home owners association policies.
Ya, that would be annoying if the land lord refuses to do shit. Screw him. On to the next best thing.

Maynard: I think most of us grew up in a pretty sterile environment. A
lot of that stuff just wasn't around. It's all pretty much peaches and
cream . . . flowers . . . everything's nice, ignore all the bad stuff.
And the world's just not like that. And I think that the sooner people
get to the point where they realize that the ugly stuff is just as
important as the beautiful stuff - it goes hand in hand, I think that
we can get on with evolving. -The Tool Page: Articles
