Lightbulb Hatchi by Portable Pixels a Tamagotchi-esque iPhone/Android application

Well, I just received this from one of my alerts, and Portable Pixels - which is a London-based company has released Hatchi - which is a Tamagotchi-esque iPhone application.

    Here's my source: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multi...ws.asp?c=36863

London-based developer Portable Pixels has just released a rather cool-looking old skool Tamagotchi-esque iPhone application called Hatchi.

For those of you who weren't a child during the noughties, a Tamagotchi is a pocket-sized virtual pet that requires your constant love and attention.

Your little critter has to be fed, washed, played with, cleaned up after, and much more. Just like a real pet, you could say.

Naturally, your pet grows significantly throughout its lifetime, and will develop differently based on your level of care. Providing your care (or lack thereof) doesn't result in an untimely death, that is.

If you're up for the challenge, you can grab Hatchi from the App Store for just 69p / 99c.

Is this something you might try out? I can honestly say, it looks good.

    What do you guys think?

My first impression was pretty positive looking at this thread. I looked it up on the app store and read some reviews, as well as the developer's description.

Downloading it now, I'll post again or edit this post once I play with it a bit more and have an opinion on the game itself xD

Edit: I love him already. lol. He's just a blobby baby right now.

Pretty basic so far, but does have a good old-school pocket pet game feel. I played with him until he ran out of energy and now he's sleeping.

Oh god, I want this so bad.. So so bad. I loved Tamagotchis ever since I was a kid, and this just brings back so much memories! Too bad I can't pay.. yet. Parents don't see any point of 'buying' games from my iTouch, unless I buy them myself. Hopefully I earn some cash from my OJT 4-5 months from now.

Re: Portable Pixels releases Hatchi, a Tamagotchi-esque iPhone application

It's been fully released, and this is the information that I received:
The Tamagotchi fever is coming back! Gone were those days where we used to keep our virtual pets in cute keychains as we hung them on our necks and bags. And speaking of which, Portable Pixels has finally released its famous retro virtual pet for Android app and it goes by the name of “Hatchi”. The app can be downloaded for a very pet-friendly price of $0.99 at the Google PLAY Store.
Developed by Portable Pixels, the Hatchi virtual pet app aims to rekindle the joy and excitement that we once felt for Tamagotchis. It comes with very simple visuals that can be somewhat compared to phones with low profile monochromatic LCDs. You will then start by naming your very first virtual pet aka your ‘Hatchi’. It will start as an egg and will soon evolve according to how well it was raised. If neglected, the Hatchi could get sick and die. That being said, this new virtual pet for Android could be a good simulation game for kids especially to those who are planning to raise their own pets in the real world. With Hatchi, you will need to be mindful of your responsibilities as a virtual pet owner. Apparently, the virtual pet will act like a real pet. It will ask for food and it could feel sad when ignored.

That’s not all. The game could be addictive as it will bring this certain kind of bond between the Hatchi and its owner. It is also very simple to play and it won’t oblige you to familiarize yourself with complex game commands and controls. All that you need to do is to raise the virtual pet well, keep it happy and allow it to evolve through time. By then, the happiness and excitement of seeing your Hatchi evolve into a healthy creature could definitely be the most awesome reward that you can have as you have spent a lot of time and effort to make it evolve.

Re: Portable Pixels releases Hatchi, a Tamagotchi-esque iPhone/Android application

    Maybe I'm missing something?

I bought this around the time @cpvr first posted this thread. It costs $0.99 and I was willing to do that (my mom throws fits for purchases like this. The only other game I've ever bought was Robot Unicorn) because I was really excited for a Tamagatchi-like game that I could have with me at all times. So I got it.

It really only takes about a minute or so to tend to its needs. Its energy goes down as you feed, play, clean, and read to it. Then you put it to sleep and start all over again in a few hours or so. I don't exactly see what's so fun about this one..? It doesn't really have a Tamagatchi feel to it, or at least a charm for me to want to visit and play with it when it wakes up. It seems to tire too easily and there's not really much you can interact with it. I also got the same creature as was posted with the preview pics, so that gives me the feeling there's no alternative evolutions...?

I want to get my money's (or more like hassle's) worth from this game, and I do think it'd be neat to have another Tamagatchi (all of my old ones aged out; I had one from every version. New batteries don't even work on em)... so can anyone tell me if there's some extra thing or a tip or something to make it more enjoyable?

I really miss Tamagotchis and have been trying to find one at a thrift shop recently. Ive been playing Kawaii Pet Megu on iPad witch is a lot like Hatchi but different graphics. I really love it! (and its free)

Finally, another Hatchi gamer! I have Hatchi on my Android phone and I really like it. It's simple and very clean. No complex stuffs and just the wonderful feeling of raising your pet and the excitement to see it evolve. It just would be sad to let it go to the sanctuary.
