Should pet sites allow discussion of other pet games?

The question remains: Should pet sites allow discussion of other games on their game? Such as, on the forums, or any other place of the pet site - or should they not allow it because they're competitors?

    Let's discuss this issue.

I do believe discussion of other petsites is okay, as long as they are not comments of advertising, I would be fine.

I belive it's the same with webmaster communities or other sites. If the site is a good one and the people don't blatantly advertise it outside the "market" section, I don't have anything to say about it. Good information and sites should be discussed. If it's crossing the line though, I'll surely censor the URL so that it never gets posted on my forums ever again

Do you guys think it actually helps if your users talk about another site? It shows that you're not censoring anything from your members. Especially if they're talking about it - but when does the discussion become too much?

It can help your site to allow other site discussions. I'll explain my thoughts.

I'm a mature player, I discovered the idea of pet sites when one was mentioned on a forum I was on almost 5 years ago. It was all new to me, and I checked it out and enjoyed it.

A few months later, a different site was mentioned on the forum there, I joined that site too, and I've found and tried other sites from that one.

On each site I try I'll post about the other sites I'm on, so it starts to publicise each site.

So, it's publicity within the correct audience. The other site discussions are often, on the lines of "if you like this site, you'll love this other one, it's similar to this but with bells on"

And there's always those loyal players that will go off and join other sites with the soul intention of posting about your site and drawing others in
