Arrow Facebook launches new TV ad, in celebration of hitting 1 billion users

Facebook has recently surpassed the 1 billion users mark. That's a lot of users, seeing how Facebook hasn't been around that long, right? I wonder how many users are actually real and not bots though.

    MarketingLand has the full scoop:

Here's the TV ad that they've also released:

Facebook explains that chairs, doorbells, bridges, and airplanes. “These are things that people use to get together and connect.” “Facebook is also something that over a billion people around the world use to connect with one another,” they added.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and CEO said, “thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.” “Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life,” he added.

I would say at least a couple million would be bots and that.

Same here. I remember reading an article the other day that said Facebook would start deleting inactive/duplicate accounts. The spammers are pretty bad there. They're apparently working on yielding out the fake likes, and users who spam for likes. Hopefully they manage to do something about it because some of the images are pretty ridiculous.

And, it really helps Facebook when sites link their page for "likes" and for sites that use their comments system. It just makes the network even larger, what do you think?

I can see this backfiring on them because surely they will delete some peoples account that log in everyday and then that will be interesting.

Yer it makes it a lot bigger and I think that is why they haven't done anything about it.

Ya, especially those who have self-deleted their account and are waiting to come back to the network. A lot of people do that. They get pissed because of something and delete their facebook. It's good that facebook saves all your information when this happen.

    True, spot on.

Its good and bad in a way. Its good because you can come back but the bad thing is you can't hard delete your account.

I agree with them on leaving it like that because users always seem to come back. People take breaks off Facebook because things annoyed them, less drama, and just want some privacy. I've never deleted mine because I don't see a point in doing so. Have you ever deleted yours?

Yep! There must be millions of dummy accounts created just to sell FaceBook page liking services and posting of ads, etc.
To be honest, I thought that they broke this record a long time ago. However I might have been confused with their movie - The Social Network (can't remember all of the details).

I have not seen the ad on television yet although that's expected of me since I don't watch a lot of TV now of days, lol.
