    Google's Domination

What do you all think of Google's domination in, well almost everything.

    Google Web Search
    Google Chrome
    Google Desktop
    Google Earth
    Google Maps
    Google News
    Google Toolbar
    Google Code
    Google Calendar
    Google Alerts
    Google Mobile
    Google Mail
    Google Docs
    Google Translate
    Google Books
    Google Sites
    Google Talk
    Google Sketchup
    Google Knol
    Google Directory
    Google Health
    Google Finance
    Google Realtime
    Google Product Search
    Google Patent Search
    Google Android
    Google Chrome OS

Not to mention they also own at least some percentage of:

    YouTube
    Blogger
    AOL
    reCAPTCHA
    Metaweb
    Etherpad

    Here is a full list:

What do you think of this? As you can see by the Wikipedia page, Google has already bought four companies this year!

I imagine, not too long from now, there'll be a Google Pharmacy, Google Car and whatever else they can think of.

Is Google's domination positive or negative to you and what do you think will the future holds?

    Re: Google's Domination

Well i will start with this.....

Youtube is google owned they are the ones who started it. It's not a %.
    Same for blogger
    The rest I;m not sure.

I find that it's a cool thing but it can be a positive thing as long as their is always some sort of competition because if google gets greedy everybody would leave to the other one and google wouldn't be able to charge to expensive and stuff. It is especially good for the owners. LOl

Google did not start YouTube, and I know that Google fully owns that company.

    It's not a %.
    So it would be 100%...

I stated "at least some percentage of" because I knew that some were only partial, but I wanted to generalize them into one short list.

Yes, I agree that it has some positive aspects, and indeed particularly for website owners.

It is nice to have a variety though, because Google can't please everyone.

    Thanks for your input!

I've been a huge fan of Google for a while - all the tools that they offer for us webmasters. It makes everything so easy.
And not to mention all the traffic it brings to websites.

Lol, Google's domination has increased since this has been posted. Their growth is astonishing.

Especially since they have mobile phones out now as well as a social networking site. It's been amazing seeing Google grow into a power-house over the years.
