Question Account protection? Or account policies?

Well, I know Marapets has a feature that keeps users safe - and they also keep logs of every single action that users do - such as, what item did I buy? What shop did I just go to?

I know this feature is pretty interesting, because you can find out what happens to certain user accounts - and quite frankly, its a great idea.

So, what does Mara do? http://www.marapets.com/policy.php
They offer 48 hour protection for users:
    48 Hour User Protection

At Marapets we do not tollerate any form of scamming and work with you to keep your account protected at all times. We log everything that a member does, from items restocked at specific times to time password was last changed.

As we have logs, if anything happens to your account, such as you being scammed out of an item or MP, your password being guessed or you giving away your password after a scam to you lending items or pets, or other users and them not returning them, we can help you.

Each user has 48 hours to contact us, by Support Chat for best results and we can guarantee that we can resolve your problems. Not only are we very easily able to return your items/pets/mp/etc that you had lost, we are easily able to catch and punish the scammer too.

Remember that you only get to claim twice a month, so if you do not look after your account better, you will lose out. You also only have 48 hours after the loss to claim, after this time you cannot.

As our 48 Hour User Protection policy works so well, we can assure you that your account will never fall for a scam!
And they also have this system:

The punishment that we give will depend on the rule you break. We deal with each case individually and punishments can be anything from loss of MP, loss of items, pet stats being reset, etc, depending on the rule you broke. Under extreme circumstances, we will simply remove your account access permenantely. However, the usual process is decribed below:

    1. Your first offence will automatically give you a 48 hour ban of the entire site. You will also receive a punishment fit for your offence.

    2. Your second offence will automatically give you a 7 day ban of the entire site. You will also receive an even bigger punishment, fit for your offence.

    3. Your third offence will also be your final offence. You will have no appeal, no more chances and no more account. At this stage, your whole account is deleted forever.

There is no excuse for anyone to break any rules.

Remember that we log everything and can so easily catch cheaters, scam attempts and any rule breakers.
So, in what ways do you protect your users? What are your account policies like?

Re: Account protection? Or account policies?

On Wajas, and Pure Felinity, in general the accounts security is down to the player. If a sibling, friend or alien, accesses their account at their location, (we check through the IP history) then it's down to them not being careful with their log in info locally, and it's up to them to sort it out with whoever, and learn the consequences of the lack of internet security.

If they are subject to someone supposedly buying something, and not giving their side of the bargain. We firstly need proof, there have been occasions where someone claims they've been scammed, when it turns out the other way around. But if we get proof, in the way of a log of their messages for example. The scammer is confronted, if they fail to keep their side of the bargain, after being informed they'll be banned if they don't, then they will be banned, and the account, or item returned to the victim.

However, mostly they do have some feeble excuse, and fulfil their side of the deal. And, once all is well, they'll get a formal warning, and a fine (on Wajas, there's no fines on PF) for scamming.

There's no time scale, mostly victims of scams will come forward pretty quickly.

I recently had a very messy scam to untangle. At first it appeared that the player, that actually turned out to be the victim, was as much to blame, or even part of other scams the scammer was involved in. But thanks to IP histories, and the times of transfers to and from accounts, we were able to untangle who was on which account, and when, and where scammed goods from elsewhere ended up. The victim got her account back, and an apology for not believing her from the start. But she was fine, and understood, and was just happy to get her account back.
