    Exclamation Celebs advertising themselves

Well earlier I was watching rhianna (sorry if miss spelt) performing on the Brits and I noticed how in her music videos especially but not just hers, she's barely has clothes on, showing on camera, there basically asking for sex

What do you guys think about celebs endorsing sex?

    Re: Celebs advertising sex!!

    First of all.
Barely having clothes on isn't 'begging for it'.
    That's in my opinion.

It can be a form of art..
For example - People go and do naked photoshoots, but is that pornographic or is it artistic?

I'd say if done in a non suggestive way then it's artistic.
Rihanna has clothes on just.. so I'd say she isn't asking for it.

On the other hand, Nicole Scherzinger's song "Right there" is just bang out of order.

A section of the lyrics reads:

"Me like the way that you hold my body
Me like the way that you touch my body
Me like the way that you kiss my yeah yeah yeah yeah me like it
Me like the way that he put it on me Me like the way that he push up on me
Me like the way that he goin' down down down down down
    Down down down down down"

And we get where she is going from there.
That kind of stuff is wrong and shouldn't even be allowed to be played on the Radio, matter the fact it being on TV.

    Meh... so many opinions.

Well she's not asking for sex because it's not like you can jump through the screen and have your way with her...

    ANYWAYS!

It's all for entertainment so I don't really care. I guess it probably makes some people uncomfortable but hell go for it. It's not like she's flashing her vagina to the world. I don't see why people are so afraid of sex and sexuality. Nobody is forcing anybody to have sex; I don't feel the urge to start humping everything because of a pop song, or because Rihanna is wearing something risque.

My family promotes sex more than celebrities do imo.

This! This describes exactly how I feel about the topic.

She's not asking for it, although the way she dresses and her song lyrics are suggestive. But all in all it comes down to selling albums, and sex sells.

    Re: Celebs advertising themselves

It's not just Rihanna that wears sexy clothes and does dances. Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Ashanti and a few others have been doing it for years. Why do you think a lot of girls changed up their clothing styles? Because of the celebrities they watch and look up to.

    Re: Celebs advertising themselves

@Martyn yes I agree nudity is a form of art but for some singers like rhianna, ke$ha, Nicole sheringzinger. I think the lyrics in some of there songs suggest things but I suppose that's the only thigs that gets them fans apart from there voice.

@Aesop I'm not afraid of it what I'm meaningi is these people have thousands of role models who are young and I don't know what the word is but it's just not right to be shown on tv in that manner under 9 oclock (9 is the blanket hour so anything after that up to 6 am can have nudity and other things on air)

I think you're looking at 2 different issues here. One issue: is it appropriate for people to dress like that? Second issue: is it appropriate to allow minors "easy access" to this type of programming? Which would bring up a third: Is it the parents' or the government's responsibility to ensure their children are not seeing content that they may deem inappropriate?

    My opinions:
    1) This would depend on the situation. They're adults, they can decide for themselves what to wear. If you don't have cable tv, you're not going to see anywhere near as much of this. Cable tv is a privilege that people pay for...it's meant to give more flavor and unedited content for viewers.

    2) Personally, I would shelter my own kids up to a point on this. That's my right as a parent. However, kids are going to grow up, they're going to learn what sex is, and I don't feel that they should be completely shocked as to this "whole other world" of entertainment.

    3) I don't feel it's the government's responsibility nor right to dictate what my children see. That's my job as a parent. If I feel tv is too risque, I'll moderate what they watch and use parental controls. Parents have PLENTY of power in limiting a child's exposure; it's a matter of putting the time into it.
