A few questions...

Discussion in 'Pet game management' started by ccondon, Jul 23, 2012.

  1. If you have read my welcome post, I mentioned a future site of mine. I have a few questions about the upcoming virtual world.

Should I use Flash or HTML 5?

Should I use Kickstarter to help fund this project in the beginning?

Does anyone here do flash items/maps, and if so how much?

Preview of sshhspy backstory: you wake up and you're surrounded by secret agents who are questioning you about an incident you don't remember. They say you witnessed a situation only for government eyes. You must start over.

  2. More sites are using html5 these days, but you could use Flash as well.
2: If you can't fund itself, then why not? You can set the bar as high as you'd like it to, I believe.
3: Plenty of artists here make items and maps. Take a look at our art marketplace

    If my answers didn't help, I think @kamikami @BexxyBexxy @NeonNeon @design1onlinedesign1online @OnyxOnyx could help you more.

  3. 1. Thanks for your opinion.

    2. I planned on using kickstarter to kind of get this known and funded at the same time :)

    3. @cpvrcpvr Any flash map/item artists you would recommend?

  4. I'd go for HTML5 since that is becoming the standard and will work on mobile Apple devices (ew, haha).

As for Kickstarter, I wouldn't do it right away. REALLY work on organizing everything, getting everything possible done beforehand (such as planning the story, game play, what art/programming you need, writing, etc.) so you can make a presentable project that should hopefully look like it will have a future. People won't invest in things that they think will fail.

As for artists, browse around here for styles you like, then pick an artist based off that. You could also try DeviantArt if you can't find what you're looking for here.

  5. Would you recommended any Artists that work with flash or HTML5 maps?

And before kickstarter I would definately make sure everything's in order :)

  6. I would think you could throw any art into Flash and HTML5, you just have to program it in.

  8. I would go with HTML5 for petsites.
I can give you some pets in exchange for a little bit of PHP work if you'd like.
Ps. I emailed you, but you haven't gotten back to me yet :(
  9. Sorry, emails are backed up
    I'll get to ya ;-)

  10. That's good, and well, there's a few flash map/item artists, I'd recommend checking out the art boards and see what the artists are offering.

  11. Just make sure you realize if you use HTML5 that it's not supported across all browsers and there are still issues with sounds (pretty largely unsupported on most browsers). I'm also pretty sure there's some sprite animation issues as well with the canvas -- I think it had something to do with the number of things you put on the canvas but don't quote me on that one.
