Amount of items to open with

  1. How many items should you have on your site before opening? If you have human avatars or something like them, how many clothes should there be available?

  2. I'm a fan of items that do things and serve a purpose over random items for restockers/questers. Then again, I've never much cared for restocking. ^^

    For a start-up avatar system, I'd be happy with:
    • Selection of 5 top styles (several recolors each)
    • Selection of 5 bottom styles (several recolors each)
    • Selection of 3 pieces that cover top and bottom (ex: Dresses, kimono, sari, robes) (a couple recolors/patterns each)
    • Selection of 5 pieces of footware (a couple recolors each)
    • Selection of 5 pieces of headware
    • Selection of 5 accessories (ex: Belt, necklace, gloves, socks, wands, ect.)

    It would give you a good amount of combinations to play around with and you can add more specialized items after you're live.

  3. Each npc shop should have at least 15 items that they stock each. So that would depend on how many shops you have.

  4. Please, don't forget to add SHOES to the Human Avatar system, I can name at least 2 sites that have HAs but don't have any shoe item.

  5. I think a good amount of items to open up with is at least 50-100. That way you can cover the HAs, and shops.

  6. I think 15 unique items (+recolors if you want them) for reach shop as well as what Undel said is a perfect amount to start with. It sounds like just enough in my opinion :)

  7. But if your site doesn't have HAs... you don't need to worry about HAs. xD
  8. 100-150 items for good restock fodder.

    With HA's I would make sure you have at least 10 styles to wear that can be mixed and matched.

For the item amount, I'm in between the 100-200 range. 100 would be good, in order for members to get familiar more rapidly with the item selection, while 200 would provide a larger variety of items and the users would be unlikely to stumble upon the same item all the time. Either would be a good choice in my opinion.

    As for the clothing, I believe pretty much all has been already said.

    Pshh yeah right, you better have at least like 100 or 200 by the time you open.. haha!

  11. I think 100 is a good number to start with (for beta). For alpha, just 1 of each intended item type is enough I think.

    I guess I am crazy in that for my own project I set the number to 1k (haha). At least I am about a quarter of the way there. :- )
