Digimon or Pokemon?

Discussion in 'Gaming Discussion' started by cpvr, Jan 14, 2012.

  1. So, who here likes Digimon over Pokemon? Or how about Pokemon over Digimon? Personally, I was never a fan of Digimon, but Pokemon was pretty cool to me when I was a little kid.

How about you? You can buy digmon's games or pokemon's on amazon.

  2. pokemon is da best
  3. I think I liked the idea of Pokemon better but I was more into Digimon's storyline. Although Digimon kind of lost it's appeal later on while Pokemon remained a classic. TOO HARD TO CHOOSE.
  4. That...That's an impossible choice for me man Dx.

If it came down to it, I would have to go with Pokemon. It was the greatest impact on my life and I'm still in love with the series. I learned how to read through Pokemon by playing the video games cause I wanted to play so badly. Still love Pokemon <3. I have a giant collection of stuff, if you want me to post pics of my collection, I can x3.
  5. Both? ;3;
Digimon (before they all became humanoidish) were way more awesome design-wise and the series definitely trumped Pokemon plot-wise and as far as character development. Pokemon had so many critters in comparison which was great, but they were less artistically intricate I guess? And the characters were never engaging. But it made a great monster collection/card game - still have books full of those cards lol. And the free ones from mc.donalds! Ah, the memories...

Winner as a story or artistic movie/series... Digimon.
Winner as a card game and monster collection...Pokemon
  6. It's hard to choose :<

I think digimon had a batter plot development, did anyone ever watched digimon tamers? Heck, that's a far more complicated story plot than any child could understand. I also like the humanesque digievolutions and the various paths they can chose to transform. But pokemon also has a special place in my heart (even though the anime is a big poo these days). Eeveelotion for life!

Game wise I prefer Monster Rancher though (tamagotchi for big kids!).
  7. Totally Pokemon!! :D
  8. I agree with the others with Digimon having a much better storyline...that was probably because Digimon was kind of directed to all ages, unlike Pokemon being more focused to the younger generation. I think Pokemon had a much bigger impact on me compared to Digimon though, but I've played both games, and I enjoyed both of them very much. ^_^

It was...Pokemon that inspired me to write (because it was a bit easier to make a story out of it than Digimon) so I'll just choose that. ;3; But if I had the choice, I would've just said both. XD
When I think about it, I knew Digimon before Pokemon. I don't think that really amounts to much, though. <_<
  9. AGUMON DIGIVOLVE TO.......GREYMON!!!!! I lovee Digimon.
  10. DIGIMON for me!
  11. [IMG]

I'll always have a place in my heart for Digimon mostly because of Patamon and all his evolutionary phases :)

    Pokemon was good.
I feel like the trading cards and overall promotion made Pokemon more popular though--- Digimon really didn't have much promotion compared to Pokemon.
Pokemon posters, VHS's (90s~ ftw), Burger King/McDonalds toys were literally everywhere and heavily collected among everyone.

But yah, Digimon it is for me
  12. I never found Digimon appealing, guess I always was a true Pokemon Fan from the start.

Way too many hours lost on Blue when it came out XD
  13. I could get into Digimon, it was always Pokemon for me when I was a kid.

    Regards, Paul.
  14. .,Pokemon for me is the best
  15. Digimon for me. The digimon themselves had fantastic art and stages. With pokemon, you only had the choice of getting a single evolution, unless you go with eevee. With digimon, you could get various other evolutions depending on how it's raised and it's type. The game, Digimon World, for the playstation kept me more entertained than any of the pokemon games.

Not to mention the huge teeth most of the digimon had!
  16. I remember watching Digimon on mornings before school. It was so much fun and I loved watching the Digimons evolve, buuuuut, Pokemon's games were always better, and it just had this appeal and some sort of consistency that made it awesome. Digimon sort of got bleh later on.

I must mention though that I had a Digimon sticker album. After I collected quite many of them, I actually cut them all off (ikr) and then played with them. I would always quickly evolve my Digimon and kill the rest. XD Childhood memories! :p

All in all, it's Pokemon for me.
  17. Hmmm, I would have to go with Digimon over Pokemon. Digimon remind me of my early childhood :)
  18. Pokemon, I never got into Digimon in my early childhood.
  19. i dont like either but if i had to choose i'd choose pokemon because i used to see some of the cartoons and used to play with my brothers collection of trading
  20. Going by the series, I think I prefered Digimon since it had an actual interesting storyline rather than just 'monster of the day' like pokemon.
In terms of the actual critters I prefer Pokemon :)
