Just donated blood

Discussion in 'Health' started by cpvr, Jul 5, 2012.

  1. Well, my girlfriend donated blood at her job today and the truck was still there when I went and picked her up, so I also donated blood. I feel good about myself currently because this is my first time ever doing it, and I plan to do it again in the future.

So, have you ever donated blood?

  2. I donate blood as often as possible. I have rare blood that only 5% of the population has my blood type but my blood type can also go to 40% of the population. That and I'm young and I have healthy blood so I donate pretty often. At school they have blood drives every few months and I go when I can.
  3. The lady that was asking me questions told me how much blood the hospitals requests. I was like wow, well you can have my blood too! I hope it saves a life! When I was in school, they didn't really do blood drives.
  4. Nice, cpvr!

My veins are too small to donate :( I've attempted a couple of times, and was finally told to stop wasting their time since the veins collapse. *sighs*
  5. Thanks, they had a tough time finding a vein to draw blood from. I always have that problem. Even if I go to the hospital. I don't know why my viens are like that though! They had me squeeze a rubber ball though.
  6. I really want to donate, but they only come to my area once every 6 months which is sad. When I went for blood tests the lady said I would have a hard time giving blood as she couldn't find my veins and said if I can't very well they won't be able to.
  7. :O how rude. I've got really strong veins and I fill the bags up in like five minutes. I've got almost perfect blood pressure despite being overweight.
  8. I am not able to due to health issues ( anemia is no fun! ) but my husband does a lot. He also sells plasma, gets a good $300+ a month. Helping people while bringing in a little money never hurts!
  9. Ya, they filled up one big bag full of my blood. I thought they were going to take a lot more, lol. My blood pressure is good as well. It's only high if I'm in pain or something.
  10. No, I'm gay.

Blood. It's in your to give. Unless you're gay.

EDIT: I don't know if this is a common slogan haha... it's used quite often by the Canadian Blood Services though.

EDIT 2: The "Unless you're gay" part was added by me. duh.
