    Virtual Pets

Welcome to the Virtual Pet list forum!
We're a virtual pets and sim games community and the largest forum in our industry. Game owners can use our forum to their advatange by promoting/advertising their games to our users and receive feedback/reviews from those members that try their games out. We support developers of all kinds from RPG developers, sim game developers to virtual pet site developers. We want to see more games in our industry come across more success and that's why we try our best to release as many guides/articles regarding online gaming development as we can.
We're unlike other forums in our industry because we try our best to be there for our users no matter what and give them advice whenever they ask for it. Running an online game isn't an easy task, but with our many resources that we've built since 2011, you'll learn a lot from our online community. Please don't ever be afraid to ask a question on the forums because if you never ask, then you'll never receive an answer to your question and you can only improve by asking other users for help/advice.
We have a lot of virtual pet sites' owners and sim game owners that are very frequent visitors on our online community. Along with artists, writers and programmers that come here looking for work and games to work for. Our members who are artists sell art in our art marketplace and programmers are allowed to sell their scripts in the programming marketplace. We also allow game owners to sell their game in our general marketplace
In early 2011, we decided to make a comeback to the internet because in 2010, we had a minor setback and we had to re-launch without any content, but with a lot of time, patience, hardwork and effort, we've managed to rebuild the Virtual pet list community into something better than it was before. We actually registered our domain name on November 4th, 2004, but we were only a directory then and all we had was a basic comments system for users to post things on their favorite games..
So, what are you waiting for, why don't you join today? If you have any problems figuring out our security code, then here's a hint, it has millions upon users and has been around since 1997.
Our list of virtual pet sites and directory of sim games have a lot of different games listed, so we're pretty sure that you may find some games that suits your needs as a player of sim games or virtual pet sites.
If you're still curious about a certain game that you'd like to play, then please check out some of our game reviews that were written by some of our great contributors and our interviews with respective virtual pet site owners, sim game owners, artists, writers and programmers that have worked in this industry.

So, Neopets has been around for the longest and has a lot of merchandise. Has anyone here ever purchased their merchandise? If so, what did you buy? Do you like the fact that Neopets sells merchandise or do you think the merchandise is for kids only?

Personally, I've never bought any merchandise relating to Neopets. How about you?

I bought a plastic Uni that made a chime and flapped its wings when you clicked a button. The main reason I bought it was for the code they offered to get something online XD

    * this was around 8 + years or so ago. It was the old Uni look.

I bought some of the cards, to get the codes that came with them. I also bought a little hand held game, it had the tiger like pet on it. I bought both of those around 8 years ago.

I used to beg for this Neopet tamagotchi-like thing when I was a kid. Seeing a Neopet merch of any kind back then was like finding a needle under a haystack - it's just really rare. Parents never bought it though, it was too pricey.

... When I was younger and bloody obsessed with Neopets, boy did I have my parents splurge on Neopets stuff when it was actually available in the stores of Singapore.

    I have...
    - A Faerie Kougra plushie (bought when Neopets came to Singapore)
    - A Neopet tamagotchi thing with a Krawk in it
    - A Neopet Pen with an Aisha tamagotchi in it
    - Neopets Card game starter set
    - Bought enough cards for the Battle of Meridell series to almost have a complete set, and...
    - Numerous McDonalds Happy Meals for the Neopet Plushies and promo card.

Man oh man. I died happy when I requested a Darigan Krawk from one of the artists. I still have it actually, never scanned it in.

And as far as I'm aware, all the items had codes that can be used on Neopets.

Yes, I think the tamagotchi thing was what I had. I remember it being on sale at target, so my mom bought it for me.

omg I was so obsessed with neopets back in the day when they actually had great merchandise. That's one of the things I miss about neopets... being able to get good stuff irl and just see it at the store. They even had like a neopets mini-con thing that moved around and I went to that at my local mall.

    I had..
    • At least 200 cards I'll bet
    • All the magazines up to a certain point (probably like 7 or so)
    • LOTS of the plushies. omg the baby lupe and faerie cybunny were my favorites
    • I had a giant talking kougra toy and my sister had a matching uni, they talked to each other
    • I had like 3 or 4 of the little plastic talking toys
    • A virtual game thing that was supposed to be based of krawk or mystery island... I forget
    • Like 10 mcdonalds neopets plushies

I loved all that stuff so much. Back then was the best neopets, in my opinion. I was probably like 5th grade? So like 10 years ago. I don't know what happened after that but it just crashed. They stopped making fun merchandise :c

I collected the magazines early on, and started collecting the cards as well :D
I also went to McDonalds when they were giving out Neopet toys in their kids meals, but I didn't end up with all of those.

    Never in my life.

I wanted a Subeta plushie, but those were discontinued.

I would consider buying something if it were something I could use. I would totally by Neopets guitar picks. haha

    Ninja Edit:
I forgot about the Neopets magazine. I got those a few times. There was no real benefit to them, and the articles weren't anything you couldn't find online, but I liked it. :p

@cpvr - The magazines had articles about things on neopets, hints, some stories, a section with pictures people sent in that they drew. It was pretty cute.

Do you have any of them still? And what were the trading cards used for exactly? Did they have unlock codes as well?

I'm pretty sure some of them are still with my grandparents/parents in storage with a lot of my old childhood stuff. And I forget if the cards came with codes... I don't think they did. But they had a little TCG game to go along with them.

Oh, I see, but the merchandise that did come with codes - what type of things did it reward with? A weapon or?

I bought some packs of cards, for the code that came with them, I actually had no idea how to play the game, and my younger sister ended up cutting the pretty pictures out XD . Apparently you could get MSPP(TCG) from the first set, but from other sets I got a few air faerie crowns and stuff.

No, I'm afraid I don't have any of the stuff with me ): I had to pack pretty light when moving for college, so most of my Neopets stuff stayed behind at my mother's house.

I actually played the TCG with some of my friends during lunch in Jr. High school :D I remember being surprised at how fun it was, but I don't remember how you play it at all, haha.

The prize codes you got for merchandise could be all sorts of things. I recall getting a lot of plushies, one paintbrush, and maybe dubloons or codestones?

Was it anything like the Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh cards?

It's been a long time since Subeta had plushies - you remember what it looked like and how much it cost to get one?
