Sylestia Player Avatars & Wardrobe

Sylestia's Wardrobe offers an incredibly in-depth player avatar system. Players have virtually no limitations when it comes to expressing themselves through our avatar system. Complete your Wardrobe collection by acquiring from over 11,000 unique Avatar Items and unlocking 100's of Avatar Base Styles.

Example of Sylestia's Wardrobe Color Customization and Ensembles

Color Customization & Ensembles

Sylestia's player avatar system allows for the full customization of over 30 individual color slots. Each color slot affects a specific aspect of the player's avatar, such as eye color, hair color, makeup, or an individual part of an Avatar Item. For each color slot, players can choose from any color that they want utilizing the full RGB spectrum. A handy color picker tool is provided so that players can easily find the perfect color. The color picker also saves the player's most recently selected colors for easy copy/pasting or tweaking from one color slot to another.

Once players have created their perfect Ensemble, they can save the entire load out to an Ensemble Slot. Players can then easily switch between saved Ensemble Slots at any time! This makes it easy for players to showcase specific, festive Ensembles depending on the time of year - or maybe just to rotate their Ensemble to match the vibe of the current day!

Example of Sylestia's Avatar Base Styles

Avatar Base Styles

Sylestia's player avatar system provides players with hundreds of various Avatar Base Styles spread across 11 different slots. These slots include the Avatar Base, Eyes, Mouth, Nose, Eyebrows, Ears, Hair, Beard, Facial Features, Makeup, and Tattoos. For example, Sylestia currently has over 150 unique Hair Styles to choose from!

New players just starting will get access to a decent amount of default Avatar Base Styles. While the remaining will be initially locked, players can unlock the vast majority of them by using their AP, or Advancement Points. Players earn AP by participating in basically any feature on Sylestia, such as battling, breeding, nurturing, missions, quests, etc. The AP earned can then be used on various account-related bonuses, such as unlocking Avatar Base Styles or extra Ensemble slots.

Example of Sylestia's Avatar Items

Avatar Items

The last component of Sylestia's Wardrobe and player avatar system is the collection of Avatar Items. Avatar Items are equippable across 9 different slots. These slots include Held Items, Outfit Items, Head Items, Cloak Items, Accessory Items, Tail Items, Wing Items, Aspect Items, and Background Items. In total, Sylestia currently has over 11,000 unique Avatar Items to collect! Each year, we add another ~1,500 Avatar Items spread across the game's core features, Festivals, and Events.

Held Items: Any Avatar Item that is considered to be "held" by the avatar. These include swords, staves, bows, spears, etc. It also includes various mini pet companions, such as cute baby creatures, flying faeries, dragon whelps, etc.
Outfit Items: The core "outfit" worn by the avatar. These include armors, robes, dresses, garbs, costumes, etc.
Head Items: Any Avatar Item that the avatar wears on its head. While these include items such as crowns, tiaras, hoods, helmets, etc., they also include more detailed hair styles with highlights, patterns, or integrated head items like jewelry, bandanas, etc.
Cloak Items: Any Avatar Item that the avatar wears as a "cloak". These include cloaks, capes, shawls, scarfs, etc.
Accessory Items: Any miscellaneous Avatar Item that the avatar wears on the front or back of its body. These include satchels, pouches, backpacks, sheathed weapons, quivers, etc.
Tail Items: Any Avatar Item that is considered to be a tail. These include animal tails, dragon tails, bird feathers, fantasy tails, etc.
Wing Items: Any Avatar Item that is considered to be wings. These include dragon wings, feathered wings, animal wings, faerie wings, magical wings, costume wings, etc.
Aspect Items: Any Avatar Item that is considered to be more of a background item without actually being considered a full scenic Background Item. These include large creatures that sit to the side of the avatar, such as a wolf, cat, dragon, etc., as well as including various effects such as snow, swirling wind, swirling leaves, magical auras, etc.
Background Items: Any Avatar Item that is a full scenic background. These include snowy escapes, heavenly thrones, peaceful meadows, gloomy forests, etc.

Players can easily filter and search the Avatar Items section based on Avatar Item Type, Rarity, or by the Event that the item is obtained from. Players can also narrow their search by filtering by Year Released or by Item Name. Players can also view all Avatar Items, only Avatar Items they own, or only Avatar Items they do not own. There are lots of tools to help players navigate this collection of 11,000+ Avatar Items.

Most Avatar Items come as a Pre-Colored variation, meaning our artists hand crafted the item with a specific color palette. Avatar Items come in various rarities. While Rare Avatar Items are colored with simple palettes, Epic Avatar Items are often colored with detailed palettes and sometimes extra effects, such as elemental effects, glows, sparkles, etc. However, the most desired Avatar Items are the Legendary Avatar Items, or Re-Colorables, which allow players to fully customize the Avatar Item with their own coloration (excludes Held Items and Background Items, which are always Pre-Colored due to their complexity).

The vast majority of Avatar Items are also fully Trade-able, meaning that players can buy and sell Avatar Items with each other utilizing the Trade Broker. This makes the entire system much more manageable for players trying to collect the items that they are missing or that they most desire.

In Summary

Sylestia offers an incredibly robust and in-depth player avatar system. Players can fully manage this system via their Wardrobe. Players can choose from over 30 color slots, 100's of Avatar Base Styles, and from over 11,000 Avatar Items. Players can create and save Ensembles to easily switch between them whenever they choose to do so. Each year, ~1,500 new Avatar Items and a handful of new Avatar Base Styles are added into the game. Most of these Avatar Items can be obtained by participating in the game's various seasonal Festivals (Spring Festival, Summer Festival, Fall Festival, and Winter Festival) and Events (Week of Love, Fortune Event, Easter Event, Patriotic Event, and Black Friday Event).

Some of these Festivals and Events even have fun Avatar Dress Up Forum Games where players are asked to show off their creativity in designing fun and festive Ensembles. Sylestia also allows players to submit their own designs to help in the creation of new Avatar Items for upcoming seasonal Festivals via Avatar Design Contests. As always, great prizes await any player who participates and for those who have their submissions selected.

If you are someone who is interested in creating and customizing your virtual persona, then Sylestia is definitely a game that's worth checking out!

Still my favorite Virtual Pet Game after over 10 years of play.
Pros: Super detailed, super active developer(s), something for everyone, extremely positive community.
Cons: (From what I remember from when I joined a decade ago lol) it can be a bit confusing to get started, a bit hard to build up currency early game.
Username in game: Haleighb

I am someone with major ADHD, I get extremely hyperfixated on games and play them heavily for weeks/months, and then I tend to put them down just as quickly and never pick it back up again. I have played many virtual pet games over the years (Howrse, Flight Rising, ChickenSmoothie, Lioden, etc.), but none have me coming back like Sylestia does.

A huge part of it is the player base. In the decade I have been playing (sometimes more active than others), I have never had a single problem with anyone on the site. Between the forums, chatrooms, private messages, everyone is extremely kind and supportive. So many of the people I have been playing with since 2016 are still around and active. Everyone is eager to help newbies with any questions, getting started, even giving freebie gifts here and there. There are hundreds of comprehensive guides written by seasoned players to help newbies get the hang of things. The community is one of the friendliest corners of the internet I have ever come across. We have seasonal events and festivals, holiday events, official and player-led forum games, and more. The seasonal festivals are awesome, and always have tons of features for players to participate in. There are hundreds of special themed pets and avatar items to collect. There are even opportunities for players to get involved in what content gets added to the game. Admins run contests for themed pet designs (players design color palettes for each species to add as official themes), avatar item design contests, and trait design contests just to name a few.

As far as content goes, you wont find better anywhere else. There are 22 different species (as of writing this, more may come in the future). They span a wide range of real-world inspiration. From mammals to reptiles to birds to insects, there is guaranteed to be a species that is up your alley. The other VPGs I have played either have so many options that it gets super convoluted, or they just focus on one, which can get boring. Sylestia finds a way to make every one of its species shine, all are unique and valuable in their own way. Each pet species comes with unique genes and mutations to customize, and up to 14 different colors on each. There are special restricted traits as well, some can be found in the wild, some come on special restricted themes during festivals, and you can also purchase them from a special shop to add to whatever pet you'd like.

A feature I and many other players are big into is the breeding system. I personally focus on themed pets. As there are 6 slots for genes and mutations, and the most you can reasonably get on a specific themed pet is 3 visible traits, there are many players that run breeding projects to get "full-vis" or purebred themed pets with 6 visible traits. The game runs on a punnet square type system with visible, carried, and hidden visible traits. It is super fun and personally rewarding to breed many generations to get the perfect full visible offspring. Along with this, many breeders go on to stat breed those offspring as well. This requires breeding pets and enhancing their base battle stats to the maximum they can be (Max-Stat Breeding).

There is a currency you can purchase with real money (diamonds), but I never found it necessary to enjoy the game. Many hardcore breeders buy items from the diamond shop to help speed up/enhance their breeding projects. I have never felt that the game pressures you to do any of that, and it is fully possible to get complete enjoyment of everything on the site without using any real money. I personally buy diamonds quite a bit to help out my projects. I love being able to help support the developers, and I have never felt like my money has been wasted on it.

The developers are super active, they not only focus on big revamps of features that may be a bit old, but they are always fixing small bugs/QOL improvements. They are always around to message if you come across any issues or need assistance, and respond quickly and efficiently.

TLDR: You won't regret playing this game, I'm 10 years in and counting, and not planning on stopping anytime soon. ^-^

The Pet Generator with one of my themed pet design submissions for the upcoming Spring Festival
Good Virtual Pet Site, Friendly Community, Genetics mechanics and breeding game
Pros: Fun creature artwork, ability to collect without having to pay real world money
Cons: Some elements of creature customization and world/zone progression take time to learn and understand. Time commitment.
I really enjoy this game because of the many cute/cool creatures that are available. I've had a very positive experience with most all players and all staff in game since i joined in 2018.
When you start you get to customize your starter pet, including species, colors and a couple traits.
There are many different color slots that affect different parts of the body. It is difficult for a new player to know where on the artwork the colors will affect. There isnt really a guide to teach that i know of, you will have to experiment with the pet generator and look at different existing pets for a while to get an idea of how sometimes a color will appear in other traits.
For example, sometimes the eye color will also affect particle effects on other traits.
I find it fun but also challenging to design pets who will have pleasing colors using the generator and then breeding them for more visible traits.

This game uses mechanics that are similar to real world genetics, but less complicated. One of the first things i recommend buying with diamonds is the item "Exceptional Genetic Test Kit" so that you can see "carried" traits on any of your pets. These are traits that arent visible on the artwork but can become visible through breeding with another pet with a trait in that slot.
Each pet can have 3 genes and 3 mutations. The traits can be carried (and will be invisible) or they can be visible.. there are guides that explain how to breed for visible traits in detail.

I recommend new players to progress through the questline/zones in order to unlock party slots and get resources such as gold and fun encounters with wild pets. You will need gold to purchase diamonds in order to unlock more stable space, so be careful how many pets you collect to start with because space is limited.
The forums have good guides if you get stuck and have spoiler warnings just in case you want to experience the adventure naturally.
There are routine holiday events in game that you can participate in to get exclusive themed pets and avatar items. Sometimes you will need access to the lost grove, which is the higher level zone, another reason i recommend leveling up and progressing storyline.
You can customize your avatar with a variety of free hairstyles and some outfits. You can unlock more avatar items through zone progression and from holiday festivals.

I hope this helps summarize what content this game has, according to my experience. Sorry if i repeated a lot of things others have already said here.

My favorite pet game
Pros: Adorable pets, very F2P friendly, absolutely amazing community
Cons: Definitely a bit of a pain when first starting out, as there are few ways to earn gold as a newbie.
Sylestia is not just my favorite pet game, but one of my favorite games ever (and I play some VERY well-loved games, such as Stardew Valley and Genshin. I genuinely rank it amongst them). I joined in 2019 and have, for the most part, been an active player ever since.

One of my favorite features that you so rarely see in games these days is that you can absolutely access all features/items as a free-to-play player, thanks to the Currency Exchange. (Said exchange has unfortunately raised my standards for a lot of other games :/)

Breeding mechanics are really straightforward and easy to understand. The fighting mechanics are slightly more confusing, but in any game I play, I'm the type of player to just smack things and hope for the best. That said, there are MANY player-made guides on nearly every aspect of the game!

There are frequent festivals (major seasonal festivals, and multiple smaller events throughout the year), which is really fun.

Sylestia's player base is really something else. I have never seen such a close-knit fanbase on a game before, or anywhere really. Virtually everyone is extremely kind and helpful, and really make you feel welcome.
