General Information
Virtu.Pet is a Neopets clone based on an early version of the site. You need to fill out an application and be manually accepted to join. The form states that not everyone will be accepted. The site is coded by one person. It works a lot like the early days of Neopets. You will see old art (and the unconverted pet designs) and old navigation while doing dailies.
Not a lot of items are available. It's something to keep in mind when deciding on your item gallery. Pet names do not need to be unique. More than one player can have a pet with the same name. There are a decent number of converted flash games from official Neopets.
One of the biggest differences with Virtu.Pet is the secondary currency "VirtuGem®"s. You can either spend 100 Neopoints per gem or convert unneeded items into gems. You can do this either by checking off every item manually, or sacrificing some gem profit to select all items at once.
Gems are used to buy Neocash items and quality of life upgrades. These include:
A feature completely unique to VP are elemental faerie types for every pet. Upon creation, a pet is given a random type. Faerie Tokens can change the element. A feature for these elements has not been created at the time of writing (Spring 2026).
Like all Neopets clones, there is custom art for a variety of pets. They can be found on their own page in the Rainbow Pool. The Christmas color is called Yuletide and all Island pets have a custom beach themed look. The alternate artwork that can be purchased with gems are redraws and recolors of official Styling Studio designs from the retail site.
Currently VP has 247 secret avatars, with some of them being annually available. VP is updated on a semi-frequent basis and is a great Neopets clone site for a casual Neopets fan. Hardcore players will run out of things to do.
