I would reach out to youtubers that play that kind of game and see if they be willing to give it a spin, best way to do it these days.
This is a good idea, and I believe video marketing can help a game grow a lot. Especially if the YouTube channel has many subscribers. I also think reaching out to Twitch and TikTok users will help.

Some strategies that can attract new users are promoting of games through social media marketing like twitter, YouTube, Facebook, offer free trial or demo for new users to experience the game beforehand, using referral system to reward players if they invite friends to play the game.
Providing a demo and early access to players can be important as they set the tone. Alpha and beta testers help spread the word about the game, and they are the ones who talk about it. Early press is a good thing.

Reddit and Tumblr are good for marketing purposes. Game owners should have pages set up on these sites as well.

A referral system is vital and it’s important to have one. Users love to be rewarded. Prizes should be unique to the system.
The referral system should also include banners and buttons that users can use to promote the game.

There are various ways to attract new users to a game. One that come to mind is social media promotion. The other is influencer partnerships.
Influencer partnerships are a good idea. Collaborating with video creators on Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok can help you reach a larger audience and gain traction much faster than relying solely on text-based marketing.

Additionally, having them post reviews and previews of your game is an effective way to attract new users. You could also post images on Instagram by utilizing certain hashtags to reach a higher audience.

I'm going to post this here as my "F" (following) post.

Back in the day, the days of the 2000s, we had "topsites" for games and our users would fight to claim the #1 (or top 10) position out of 100.

I would constantly be in the top 5 every time it reset (some were daily, some weekly, and some monthly).

I don't know if that's a thing anymore... and if it's not... it should.

Everybody forget what I just said, just in case it's not a thing anymore, cause I have an idea.

Top Web Games, Best Free Online Game Directory, ApexWebGaming, and PBBG Topsite have all been around for quite some time. TWG and Apex seem to receive the most traffic, with their top games having over 1,000 votes. I know that many pet sites and sim games used them between 2005 and 2010, but I don’t see a lot of them using top sites these days.

Well, shucks.

I remember also buying a "topsites" CGI script for like $400 and getting smaller games to join it because it was less competitive to rank on,

It also helped my game grow because I would rank in the top 5, and I also controlled the advertising positions, so my game would be prevalent to their players too.

Definitely Social Media promotion and specific targetting of communities within the niche - whether Reddit, FB groups, or communities such as this.

Promoting on reddit is a good idea. There are a few subreddits that you can promote your game on, especially the “PBBG”, https://www.reddit.com/r/PBBG/s/idp4FCf22C
And the “playmygame” subreddit” along with Smallawesomegames subreddit.

You should include a screenshot of your game and a description of it if you decide to promote your game on these subreddits.

Creating a subreddit that caters to your game is also a good tactic, as it can help you appear on Reddit’s homepage and attract more users.

Additionally, having social media pages dedicated to providing news and updates for your game can be helpful, as they can boost your visibility and attract more users in the long run. It’s a good idea to showcase your game as much as possible.

I think running ad campaigns on a platform where you can find people who might be interested in your game can be a good way to attract users. However, first and foremost you need to find out who your audience is.

An advertising campaign would work wonders, especially if you launch one on the right platforms. One of the best ways would be to use Google adwords, Facebook ads or Reddit ads. Purchasing ad slots on other gaming sites would also work well.

Starting with a small campaign is a good idea as it’ll help you determine what works and what doesn’t. Such as, a $5-10 campaign per day.

If you can partner with streamers on Twitch that's a great way to get new players. It's done a lot for me with one of my sites having a few streamers that promote my site.

I do not have any experience with Reddit ads. Can you explain how it works? Is it similar to Facebook ads?

Social media promos, influencer collaborations, and strategic directory listings are ways to attract new users. Also, offering exclusive rewards will create a lot of buzz to. Additionally, offering positive reviews highly attract new users.

Social media is a goldmine for attractibg new users to your pet site. Posting interesting content can help to develop dedicated fan. You can also utilize targeted ads and influencer marketing to bring remarkable success.

It's similar to Facebook ads as you can target certain subreddit, however, the ads on Reddit need have a more organic effect to work well. The ads can also receive up votes or down votes, which will effect the ad campaign. They're also a bit cheaper than advertising on facebook.

What kinds of ad campaign can I run? Are these CPM or CPC? What kind of ads they accept, visual, links, graphics, what else? If they are cheaper than Facebook, I might try them.

You can definitely run either a CPC or CPM campaign on Reddit. They offer a variety of ad formats, like links, images, illustrations, GIFs, carousel ads, and even graphics. Plus, you can start with a small daily budget around $1 or $2 a day, so it’s a good option if you want to test things out without a big commitment.

I’ve know that Cedric ran a campaign on Reddit before, and it worked out pretty well for him. Reddit tends to be more affordable than Facebook, especially if you’re targeting niche subreddits where your ads really match the audience.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, Reddit could definitely be worth considering!

I discovered a trend online recently and it is an influencer partnership. This is what people are using to attract new users to either their games or their projects.

I've seen this as well. I do think it's a great way to tap into your core audience and attract new players, especially on Youtube, Tiktok & the like. Santae utilized this method, and now, I see Cybora doing it.

I don’t have played own pet games but I think attracting new users usually requires visibility
People need to find your game first, understand it quickly, and feel rewarded for staying.
You might use discovery channels like short-form content, streaming, and community sharing.

First, people need to find your game. That’s where social media clips, short videos, influencers, or app store visibility matter.
Second, the first experience has to be clear and enjoyable. If players are confused or bored in the first few minutes, they leave.
Third, you need a reason for them to stay or return, like progression, rewards, or social features.
