Blizzard has generated substantial revenue from Diablo IV in the year following its release. Harrison Froeschke, the Senior Product Manager for the game, disclosed an estimated revenue amount on his LinkedIn profile rather than the developer's official website. According to his profile, Diablo IV has earned more than a billion dollars in total revenue, including approximately $150 million from in-game microtransactions.

It's noteworthy that within just five days of its launch in June 2023, the game had already amassed $666 million, primarily due to pre-orders, a milestone Blizzard proudly shared at the time. While crossing the billion-dollar mark may seem predictable, it's important to mention that Diablo IV has been available on the Game Pass service since June of this year.

Blizzard is poised for another revenue surge with the impending release of Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, the game’s first expansion, which introduces the spiritualist class. The gameplay trailer for this expansion was revealed in July 2024. Scheduled for release on October 8, 2024, Vessel of Hatred will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, coinciding with the start of the 6th season.

In my opinion, I think the Game Pass definitely played a significant role in this. But what makes me go wow is how much people are spending on microtransactions.
