I don't think I would pay to advertise a pet site, but rather promote it with posts and have it organically grow that way. What social media networks do you use to advertise your virtual pet site?
If a pet site owner is considering a paid advertising campaign, targeting users who are already fans of similar games like Neopets, Webkinz, Roblox, and Club Penguin could be a strong strategy. Neopets fan sites and forums often offer advertising slots, making them a prime place to attract your audience.I don't think I would pay to advertise a pet site, but rather promote it with posts and have it organically grow that way.
I think you'd get more out of people engaging with your posts and then them even posting it to spread it over an ad as they like the game.
However, @cpvr might have a paid comparison to see whether I'm right or wrong on which way works and hope to hear it before I potentially waste money.

Facebook has a system in place where you can target users based upon their interests, demographics, and hobbies. They actually help you target a certain audience now. It works quite well. It's been a while since I created a Facebook ad. Can you target users this way?
It seems like it'd be against the ToS, as for instance, I could make a shoe and target people interested in Nike as opposed to "shoes".
Xanje has been doing quite well with their approach to ads on social media, but it's been a while since I've seen any other pet sites advertised. Marapets did it a few years ago with Google adwords and Facebook ads.I have seen many virtual pet sites advertise on social media. And I know some people that have become members of virtual pet sites because they saw it being promoted on social media. I have also joined some virtual pet sites on social media too.
Yes, we can make a very short and engaging posts that are targeted to the right audience on social media to promote our site. We can also use ads too. There's absolutely nothing wrong in promoting your pet site on any social media sites as long as there's a possibility of getting new players from there. Are there really "established" influencers for browser games/virtual pet games? Or is it mostly just fan content with like a hundred followers or something? Idk if I've ever seen an influencer advertise a game in this genreSocial media play a very big role in pets site advertisements. Micro influencers and ads can help in diverse ways too. You can also engage in Tiktok tutorials or posting on Facebook to market your pet sites.
In this genre, there are no huge influencers like in mainstream games. It’s has smaller creators, but it could be an opportunity for someone like @cpvr to start a YouTube channel dedicated to virtual pets. Giving you a great idea🤣. Consider it and thank me later. 🤣Are there really "established" influencers for browser games/virtual pet games? Or is it mostly just fan content with like a hundred followers or something?
