The recent report is that President Trump has ordered that the trade tariff for China getting products from the US be increased by 10%. Markets have reacted negatively to this move, but do you see that as being in the best interests for USA?

Absolutely not, this is not the way to get more stuff to be made in the USA and now that prices are going up, they will stay up even if the tariffs go away. Trump has forever screwed us on this.

USA and China will never see eye to eye. It's very unfortunate USA citizens will keep suffering for long time as a result of this.

The tariffs that were placed on China, Mexico and Canada will cause a price increase on various products.

It will only hurt us in the long run.😡

With the stroke of a pen, the tariffs he has imposed on Canada, Mexico and China have turned back the clock 70 years, erasing decades of globalisation.
Vegetables from Mexico, wheat from Canada, toys and T-shirts from China are all in the firing line. Retailers of such items can have very narrow profit margins and will raise prices quickly to cover the tariffs.

Consumers will notice the price rises.

These things aside, I don't think China, Canada, and the rest are going to sit back and not react in a similar manner. So, I would expect some serious price increases across board even when USA is trying to import any items from these affected countries. Personally, I wish he will have a rethink about it.

Seems Trump has once more backed off from placing tariffs on anyone, what a freaking game going on.

China will respond in kind. This is never going to be a one way tariffs imposition. It won't be easy on anyone.

He better have to or US citizens will turn on him.

Trump's 10% raised tariffs on Chinese goods are a bold move; however, I'm skeptical about it because the market is already responding in the negative, and that means higher prices for American consumers.

Wow! It seems he doesn't calculate these moves before going on to make them or what exactly is happening right now?

Honestly Trump is pissing me off. He needs to stop trying to make Canada and United States one country. It won't happen.

The man is an idiot who is a guilty person and has gone bankrupt several times in his life, he should not be leading a nation.

It's an obsession for Trump. I can't think of anything else which makes him want to do that.

The markets are responding correctly. They’re going to as it’s a trade war that’s going to effects the market for a while.

Canada also hit the United States with retaliatory tariffs.

This is not only going on with China.

The first shots of President Donald Trump’s global trade war have been fired.

Canada on Wednesday announced new retaliatorytrade duties on some $21 billion worth of U.S. goods, a response to Trumpimplementing universal steel and aluminum tariffs.

Canada’s retaliatory measures follow ones announced Wednesday by the European Union targeting a range of U.S. goods worth $28 billion, including beef, motorcycles and whiskey alongside American-made steel and aluminum. China, too, signaled it was readying.

China also hit the United States with retaliatory tariffs.

China's retaliatory tariffs went into effect Monday, spelling trouble for American farmers by making U.S.-grown crops more expensive for their top purchaser.

Beijing imposed the levies in response to President Trump's extra 10% blanket tariff on Chinese goods . Under China's retaliatory action, U.S. farmers now face levies of 15% on chicken, wheat and corn, and 10% on soybeans, pork, beef and fruit.

China is the largest market for such products, and if prices of foreign-grown goods rise in China, locals will turn to less expensive alternatives either from China or other countries. American farmers that deal in chicken and more will likely lose market share as a result.

"If prices go up, folks won't eat imported stuff," a fruit seller, surnamed Shi, told Agence France-Presse. "There will be more domestic goods sold, and I think this is something folks can accept."

Shi told the agency that if U.S. produce prices rise, he might seek out replacement fruit and vegetables from Thailand and Malaysia.

Goods that shipped before Monday and arrive in China before April 12 will not be subject to the new tariffs.

This trade war won’t be good for the consumers(like us) at all for a while. We’ll pay paying more for various products from electronics, foods, and more.

The USA imposed a big tariff on all goods coming into the USA from China. As we all know, China is one of the largest economies alongside the USA. Is this trade war a worry to you, or do you have this intuition that it will be resolved?

I’m hoping that they’re able to find a balance soon. Especially considering the fact that there’s a lot of products that are manufactured and shipped in from China from clothes & other goods.

They should find the balance soon. Many products are manufactured and shipped in from china, the way forward would have been how to make things so swiftly for the products to enter the country with ease.

The tariff increment is a cause of concern to me and politically, it is a risky move. The worse is that the ultimate victim is mostly the consumers and businesses.
