Right now, I'm craving a text-based virtual pet game. Does anyone know of any? I’m looking for the one with great storytelling and interactive adventures. This will keep me engaged all through the day as I have not to do presently. I'm free like a bird. 🤣

Soon as I determine the framework to build mine on, it will be 90% text and 10% imagery. I think text is the way to go because it forces you to have the imagination to play it. Choosing the proper framework to begin with is essential, because once I start, it will have to stay that way or it will cost hours upon days to port it over something else. I need to use something with a past, a good developer community for reliance on security updates (as I don't want to handle that on top of a game), and a bright outlook for the future.

The 10% will be the layout and the character you build, but how you interact with the game will be mainly with text and reading.

Possibly 20% as I want to include a map too, and feel that Up/Down/Left/Right won't be as appealing as clicking on a square of a map to move to that position (and see your character overlay on the map). I had the Up/Down/Left/Right in my previous text-based game and nobody had issues with it, but times have changed a bit.

Most virtual pet sites are text based. Neopets was the first text based pet site. I coded one myself too, years ago.

I think Galactic Pets would be a great choice for you. In this pet game, you’ll adopt and care for alien creatures on a distant planet. This game has a rich storyline and quirky characters. You might want to give it a try.

Yes, I’ll give Galactic Pets a try as it sounds amazing to me. I kind of love the idea of adopting aliens. Thanks for the recommendation.

Pixpet is a text based pet game. It has some mechanics that are quite similar to Pokemon. They also have 60 species that you can choose from.

Pixpet is a game I understand very well and I think it's like a Pokémon. It has abundant species choices and that is what makes it exciting to me.

The only text based virtual pet game that I have played is "Creatures of the Mists". The story is super engaging and immersive. It has a balance of simplicity and depth to it.

That sounds very interesting! Such text based games that give an extra space for imagination makes the experience even more immersive. Without complex animation or any kind of heavy visuals, it will keep the players invested.

I played a little of that, its pretty fun.

That sounds very cool. I've never heard of Creatures of the Mist before but I am a fan of text-based games. It's more appealing to me if it balances simplicity with depth.

Nice, which one did you try? I can't remember the name of the one I played with years ago, I remember how simple it was, where you just typed commands to feed and play with the pet. It was so basic but I loved it.
