I actually went back and re-read the article wrong. It was talking about reduction in Type II, especially with those that have a certain gene that breaks caffeine down slower as it'll stay in your system longer, increasing the fat burn.I also think it's all on sugar too. I would definitely love to have a read of that study if you have access to it. Maybe it's best to cut off drinking energy drinks permanently 🤔?
But, it did focus on those with a high BMI and stated something along the lines that they were still susceptible to Type II because of the BMI. However, caffeine could help in reducing that. It was more-so a warning to get your BMI down so that you can reap the rewards of caffeine.

To add, I only drink 0-calorie Monsters with 0 added sugar (or 10-calorie as the artificial sugar alcohols make "some" calories, negated by walking into the store and walking out of the store plus the calories that the energy drink would burn through consumption).
