Playing video games leads people to find relaxation but may simultaneously cause emotional distress. I manage my gaming-related stress by finding comfort within gaming communities even though I have personally experienced such stress.

What kind of changes does your mental health experienced due to gaming activities?

There was always an increased anxiety when I began playing games many years ago. It was my fiance who advised me to always work towards staying calm, focused, and in a good mood. That has helped me to manage my anxiety issues as a person who was looking to have fun playing games.

The effect of gaming activities on my mental well-being has both positive and negative. The activity serves as a stress-relieving outlet which helps me feel relaxed and presents a break from anxiety. Being addicted is the negative aspect.

I think when I was younger, gaming had some negative impacts on my mental health considering I took them too seriously and would get angry or upset when I lost. I would often bang my head against controllers when I would lose. Looking forward to today, I think gaming has more of a positive effect on my mental health because I play what I enjoy, which feels like it relaxes me and releases dopamine when I am successful at said game.

Playing games needs you to stay relaxed. You can't do much when you are not in the best mood. So, it is always advisable to feel free and relaxed when you are playing.

Gaming helps me feel calm, but sometimes it makes me stressed. Talking with other gamers helps me feel better. I try to mix gaming with other activities that make me happy for my mental health...

I find that it calms me when I play games, if nothing else takes my mind off of current troubles.

It has improved my mental health by giving me a way to relax, focus, and escape daily stress. Gaming helps me feel connected, improves my mood, and gives a sense of achievement and routine.

Never have had any mental health issue related to my gaming habits. Gaming actually helps me to de-stress, or manage my anxiety and depression. When I had a smartphone for the first time, I used to play Candy Crush a lot, sometimes until 3 in the morning. But thankfully, I was able to control myself before I slipped into addiction.

Gaming has helped me unwind, focus, and disconnect from stress when life felt overwhelming. Some games gave me comfort and routine, while others became social spaces to connect with people. But I’ve also felt too much gaming can leave me feeling mentally drained.

I used to feel stressed when I play certain types of games. It was never easy at the beginning, but speaking with my man who is also into playing video games helped me back then.
