With modern web development tools and AI-assisted coding, creating a basic virtual pet site seems more accessible than ever. What do you think are the biggest challenges: coding, artwork, content creation, marketing, or community building?

I find the hardest aspects to be drawing the artwork and designing the game mechanics, whereas coding the backend logic is extremely easy. But that is because I'm a professional programmer but only a hobbyist artist. I'm sure that someone with the opposite background would find the difficulty to be completely different.

In general, I think all work is hard work and difficult. I agree that it is subjective based on your own skills to some extent, but it's always important to me that I don't devalue the work anyone else on my team is doing. Speaking as a programmer, even with AI-assisted coding making coding easier and more accessible than ever, AI doesn't do very well with system design, which should be a concern for any programmer (especially one just starting out). I would caution anyone from relying too much on it for their site.

By far, I think marketing and growth is the greatest challenge in 2026, and I think it will only get harder. Getting the attention of potential players in a world where everything is oversaturated with ads is a unique challenge.
