Role-playing games encourage players to build characters and make narrative choices. Does this lead players to experiment with different identities, or do most people simply recreate versions of themselves within the game world?

Role-playing games shape player identity by letting people experiment with different choices, roles, and moral paths in a safe environment. When players consistently make certain decisions, like being heroic, strategic, or chaotic, they start to reflect those patterns in how they approach situations in-game.

Character development and customization is what helps gamers of Role playing games to built or create any kind of identities they want or like in the game. Every aspect of their personality preference is coded in their characters.

Many gamers including myself always prefer to play with characters that have the same moral values that we have, who also possess the traits that are our weak spots.

I know in classic final fantasy people could pick their party's names, leading to some unique name sets lol.
