Trending topics generate more engagement which is why social media platforms thrive very well on that. Forums have also learnt how to do the same thing by milking trending topics in order to boost engagement across the board.

As a forum owner, how or where to do you find trending topics for your community?

I find trending topics for my forums by following posts on X , Google Trends, and industry related news sites. Subreddits and competitor forums also reveal what’s really hot in the niche.

It's going to be more like you are spying on your competitors to keep up with trending topics but there is nothing wrong in doing that.

I think some people also make use of ChatGPT to find trending topics.

Just follow the news around your forum niche, but actual topics brought into the forum should be ones that resonates with interests of forum members. It is not every news around your niche that you bring in. There are definitely some kinds of news that always generates engagements among your forum members. Bring topical news around that circle.

I get most of them from Reddit, I only started being more active on Facebook recently so I don't go on that platform much. I also don't like Twitter and will not be getting tech news from that platform.

To find trending topics, one can check newest posts on X, Google trends or the browser, there are many trending topics every day in places like this and also being consistent online.

I've never thought about Google Trends, but it seems to be a valid option which I should certainly check out for trending topics. Thanks for that recommendation.

These days, I frequently visit Reddit to find trending topics for my forum. In the past, I used to look into youtube trends or Google trends.
