Opening the same game every day can become automatic. Have you ever realized you were logging in without actually looking forward to playing? What made you notice?

If I'm logging in just to complete daily tasks, collect rewards, or follow a routine, but I'm not having fun, that's a good sign I'm playing out of habit rather than enjoyment.

I think one way to know is when gameplay feels more like a routine and then you start missing out on the fun parts of the game.

Playing a game out of habit instead of fun has happened to me a couple of times. When I start playing a game too much, enjoyment starts withering and I am only playing out of habit. If you start playing a game because it is your game time, and not because you want to relax and have fun, it is certainly a habit.

If I'm playing because I feel like I should rather than because I want to, it's usually a sign I need to take a break.
