Some players love pixel pets or anime-style designs, whereas some people prefer realistic design. How important is the art style for you when it comes to choose a virtual pet? Does visual style influence your attachment to a virtual pet, or is gameplay more important?

I think it can be important- alot of people prefer handdrawn art over AI for example and some people like chibi over real or cute over fancy... what draws someone can be the art.. and or the gameplay but that they see can sometimes be what a user chooses on whether to play or not as what pets/layout/items they spend their time with are very important to immersion.

Art style is very important even more than what people can admit. If pets are ugly, it will very difficult for playes to bond with them. I remember opening one site on my phone and the colors hurt my eyes, I hand to close it immediately.

Art style is very important, that and consistency. But I think a good artstyle has to compliment activities (for me personally)


Like, I think Dragon Cave's art style is PHENOMENAL, the pixel art is insane with the level of detail packed into such small sprites. But, I almost never play dragcave because theres nothing to do. I know the whole point is it's a click site but its not for me.

Also I'll never touch a pet site that uses AI with a 100000 foot pole.
