Some people are making millions but for a lot of people making thousands or even hundreds is difficult. For example, making $1000 per month just from YouTube ads is difficult for smaller creators. For example, with a $5 CPM (cost per 1000 views), you need about 200k monthly views to reach $1000. That’s tough without a large audience. However, combining multiple income streams such as YouTube ad revenue, brand deals and sponsorships, channel memberships or subscriptions, affiliate marketing can help you easily make $1000 in a month. Do you make money on Youtube?

You'd have to be lucky enough for the algorithm to pick you up, then grow your subscriber base before you're able to monetize your videos. Funny enough back when I first really started to upload videos on my channel in 2009, I did get a few videos to get thousands of views and I even got an email about getting some of them monetized. I didn't feel right doing so since the videos that were popular were made with copyrighted material so I never bothered contacting Youtube. Honestly I feel like the people making so much money these days have been around since the early days of Youtube.

The amount of money that you can earn on a monetized YouTube channel depends on the niche of the videos that you create. High paying niches can pay as much as between $10 to $20. Average paying niches would pay around $4 to $10.

YouTube earnings vary significantly by niche, audience location, and content type, with average Revenue Per Mille (RPM), what creators earn per 1,000 views after YouTube's cut, which typically ranging from $1 to $10 and $2-7 being common. High-value niches like finance or tech can exceed $10–$20 RPM, while gaming or entertainment may be $1–$3.

RPM (Revenue Per Mille): This is the actual amount you earn per 1,000 views.
Niche: Finance, business, and technology typically have the highest RPMs. Entertainment, lifestyle, and gaming usually have lower, but often higher-volume, RPMs.
Viewer Location: Viewers from the US, UK, Canada, and Australia bring higher RPMs due to stronger advertiser demand.
Video Length: Longer videos (over 8 minutes) allow for more ads, increasing potential earnings.
Content Type: Long-form videos usually have higher RPMs compared to YouTube Shorts.
Low-Range ($1–$3 RPM): A gaming channel with 100,000 views might earn $100–$300.
Mid-Range ($4–$7 RPM): A lifestyle channel with 100,000 views might earn $400–$700.
High-Range ($10+ RPM): A business or finance channel with 100,000 views can earn $1,000–$2,000

You can become a millionaire, just look at Mr. Beast. But sadly less than 1 percent are able to earn on YouTube.

I sometimes publish on YouTube but my channel isn't monetize. I think how much yiu can make depends how much traffic you get and where your traffic comes from.

That is true, it is amazing to see what Mr Beast has went to do and accomplish on Youtube.

I mostly publish lifestyle videos. My videos are ny personal experiences related to travel, tours, and wellness.

One million views on YouTube is $10,000. I'm not sure if the same applies to reels/shorts because I don't see any ads.

This meant that getting a lot of videos on your video content will bring in lots of revenue at the end of the day.

It is also important that one uploads videos (mainly educational ones) that would be useful over a period because that's how one can keep earning even when the video has been there for years.

There's no amount which is not possible to earn from YouTube. How much anyone can make on YouTube depends on how much activities their channel gets. For example, Mr Beast makes millions of dollars every month on YouTube.

It's a luck factor, it's an opportunity factor. It all depends who your content reaches. You never know who might need your content.

Some creators take years to build their channels, some channels blow up in 6 months.

It is important to take heed to that. One creator's story is different than another. One can make millions, and another may make thousands, however; it is imperative to focus on one's own story, and one's own audience. As that audience will be the particular audience that makes the activity on their own channel become a story that one will remember. 😉

The luck factor is just it. I've seen creators make funny content, and after weeks, they go viral just because someone out there reposted their content on other platforms like Facebook or Instagram.

It is not a black and white situation where one is very sure that they will make it based on the number of contents that they create every week. Sometimes, being lucky matters.
